Florida athletes

Guys, read this Mark Emmert piece:

" Emmert is concerned that a "patchwork" of state laws would cause student-athletes to pick schools based on where they can make the most money and give some athletic programs an unequal recruiting advantage. "

But he's not concerned about the 1 million cases for bags being thrown at players. Emmert is OK with players being paid, so long as it was under his control. Makes you wonder, did Emmert have something against Miami? Crazy how the power shift went to the SEC when Emmert cracked down on Miami. Alabama, Georgia, and Clemson have flourished these past few years and it's not crazy to wonder why.

Why couldn't Antifa have raided the NCAA building? RIP to all my brothers, but this is the **** that needs to be protested. Vilma get's an A+ in by book for helping advocate this.

For the last 50 years, players or teams who didn't fit the NCAA's image of what a team should be have been shytted on with unequivocal oversight.

That piece of **** can be concerned all he wants. Nothing his *** will be able to do about it now.

I don't wonder if he had anything against Miami, I know it.

This is such a big W. Players now can make money here and that money will go back into the community. They can show their earnings to high schoolers here as another recruiting tool. Miami will be the it place to be. Only USC will be able to benefit as much as Miami in all this IMO

Pretty spot on. I can't really see going into a season or future signing days where the playing field isn't pretty level at least in the opportunity TO do this.

Gonna be interesting to see though if the "big markets" with more numerous overall opportunities for $$$ will be enough to counter the podunk towns in poor overall states but where the program is their religion and the wealthy boosters/cult members dig real deep into their jort pockets.
It's going to be bagmen vs. corporations.

This is ******* huge! Let’s compare Miami and SFLA market to Athens or Alabama, shall we?

If nothing else we won't have to hear that being given a $70k/yr education along with free room and board is exploitation.

Hopefully this will inspire better performance, but I'm afraid it's just as likely to inspire more social media foolishness to gain followers.
I think it will actually cause something of a reformation. You have to play the part to keep the endorsement.

Now uniforms sales is something else entirely. There’s got to be a way for these kids to earn money off that now.

Out of these two cities get paid $100,000 for name and likeness in these two areas, which would you choose

If you like to fish marine max or south Florida boating center will sponsor you.
If you like cars pick your poison.
You like food, endless possibilities
Jake Garcia about to make coin modeling for some local agency if he chooses us.
Dude it’s gonna be a free for all. I guarantee you that the phone is ringing off the hook at UM with people wanting in on the players.
Adidas be better be at the ipf right now.
They have to realize the possibilities with all the local players locally that can potentially sign here.

The fact is that south Florida will have thousands if not tens of thousands of businesses with the marketing capital to spend on a player with visibility.

Tuscaloosa? Mehbeh nah soh mudge.

Also, we need to win. Exponential return on the investment for businesses the more successful we are.

Yup. The SEC will STILL cheat but theoretically the effing IRS should lockup any parties involved in both paying and receiving off the book monies.

Would be kinda hard to defend some kid's momma for taking $200k and not paying taxes on it from Baga when other schools/cities were offering $100k in legal money. The whole "can't pay the FPL bill" sympathy kinda disappears.

Let's start a fund to pay a player or two to "advertise" CanesInsight. Payment balloons, if they stay a 4th year. They can wear a tshirt and rep on social media or something.

Question... Let's Say Miami can't drop a bag. But I buy 10,000 Jake Garcia Autograph jersey's.. He getting the Likeness dollars? Is this a loophole?
I just read a tweet from McMurphy that says players can sign endorsement deals, so that is huge.

What about juniors such as Trajan Bandy who left early due to family issues, we can get them to sign autographs or jerseys for about $250,000+ to return for the senior seasons

Do you guys think this will make athletes less motivated or hungry on the field? I’m not bashing the move because I actually like it, but I’m just wondering...
The easiest way to motivate a player is to incentivize their play.

Ever heard of a contract year in the NFL? Guys play their best ball when the most money is on the line.

Sponsoring Jim Bob Kia in Alabama doesn't sound appealing

Corporate money > Bags. Win in Miami and establish a brand in this market is ....what is it the kids love to say...........a business decision.

So the NCAA has signed off on allowing this sort of stuff? I admittedly haven't been paying much attention.

If so this at least helps level the playing field with the bag droppers. $EC is still gonna drop the bags but at least players will have an option to make some cash here now.

It seems like they signed off on it at the end of April
