Fletcher in '26

Fletcher is a very good college back. He averages 5+ yards a carry and helps you beat real teams with physicality. If he jumped in the Portal, there would be a line of contenders out the door to take him.

He should not go pro. That’s a tough league for backs, and he’s a non-dynamic player with an injury history. He’s more valuable as a college player right now.

The rhetoric around Fletcher reminds me of the narrative around Shaq Quarterman. Fans ran his dad off the board because they couldn’t appreciate a good football player. Nobody is calling Fletcher a franchise back. Let’s focus on what he can do and how he helps us win.

I love the fit with him and Pringle because it’s a classic Thunder and Lightning set up. You could also play them together.

Bottom line, Fletcher is getting healthy at the right time and I’m looking forward to his return.
Honestly, it would be hard for him not to entertain the portal. I would not be surprised if he hits the portal.

I would love for him to stay but man he has some very lucrative options. All the top programs would want him and pay a premium to get their hands on him

He would be doing Miami a favor returning because of all the options he has.

He won’t be drafted, IMO. He should come back.
He’ll probably get pressure to leave and listen to the wrong people.

He’s not good enough to be drafted but the Bandy pull will be great to oblivion.

But he’ll fo what’s best for his family and go the Bandy way anyways, sad out come.

Will Make way more on NIL and he seems to love being on this team. Great locker room kid and would help the team in 2026.

He would go undrafted. I don’t see why he would leave just to have no job or money come Sept of 2026.

Pringle is your starter with Fletcher bulldozing tired defenses in 2026.

Fletcher loves Miami. I don’t see him leaving just for snaps at some other school. Kid is a born Cane and will finish his career as a senior running ppl over for Miami on their way to the playoff next year.

It would be wise to stay , but entourage and family will pressure to leave for the HBO series type “Ballers” series type MISTAKE

Should he stay?
Good backs often leave after year 3. He's had a ton of carries for wear and tear, though not a full three years of them.
Love the guy but I'm not seeing him as a day one or day two draft pick.
I think we'll need him as a big back. Better than Brown. Lyle might leave.
He'd make a good big-small combo with Pringle.
He didn’t walk at senior day did he?

Miami will never make the playoffs or win the ACC with him as the primary RB1.

He can stay for 10 years if it makes people feel better, but as long as he's getting the bulk of the carries the run game will continue to be limited.
This. He is an rb2 at best on an elite team. Pringle can be that guy after he puts on some weight. Hopefully we don’t ruin him with the extra weight.

Martinez was way better. Had better feet and vision as well

Fix it for you. Why would Brown leave? It’s Lyle who is the odd man out.
i already know lyle is going to leave. that wasnt up for debate.

i think brown would leave for more carries (well have pringle, CWH, whoever else we bring in from the portal, and the freshmen)

Some people are overestimating how many carries Pringle should get, even as RB1.

He’s a smaller back who has already dealt with injuries. We don’t want him in street clothes like Isaac Brown and Desmond Reid.

We need to pair him with a power back. Fletcher is returning at the perfect time.

Agreed. Lyle was supposed to be Pringle, and Lyle is not Pringle.

Fletch should come back for his final season, and it would be good for both parties. Fletch shouldn't be getting 15+ carries next year, but he can be helpful by getting 7 carries a game, especially in short-yardage situations. If he's feeling it, you keep feeding him (the same goes for any of the other backs, such as Brown and Pringle - feed the hot hand).

Fletcher wasn't supposed to be RB1 this year; that was Lyle, who got injured and then disappointed. Next year, Fletcher will be back to his natural role as the supplement to what Pringle brings to the run game.

@DMoney True….. but Brown is more than serviceable as the power back, no? I like Fletch, and if he comes back… great! but I don’t think we lose that much with Brown as the Thunder to Pringles’ lightning.

@DMoney - you said earlier this season Fletcher was in the same group as a Travis Homer / DeeJay Dallas / Damien Martinez

They all went pro after their Junior seasons

Do you still feel that way, or has your opinion changed?

As a pro prospect? He won’t get drafted as high as those guys as an underclassman. As a Cane, he’s that type of contributor.

Before the season, you said Byron Louis (-2 yards) was better than Pringle. Do you still feel that way, or has your opinion changed?

lol ya’ll do this every year. Every time you wanna player to come back the next year it’s always with the “ he’ll never get drafted” routine

He has to come back for a senior year because he’s not getting drafted right now.

If Martinez can’t latch on, than Fletcher is going to have an even harder time.
Fletcher was 1b last year and then kinda won 1a by default this year.

Is he okay with going back to 1b next year? Or even lower? If yes, than bring him back. He’d be a solid #3.
My one counter argument is that I think Fletcher would be much more willing as a special teams player
