Asking a lot of first and even second year players to defend this type of offense is more difficult than you guys think. I never played or coached but just looking at what they run I can almost guarantee that this is a young linebackers nightmare. If you look at the players who had a great game I guarantee you they were likely the upperclassman of the defense

My expectation before the game was to hold them under 30 and that would be a good defensive performance. They got a garbage TD against mostly backups to get over 30. There are red flags and plenty to work on.
