Finally Admit Lanning > Mario

Dude loves to beat up on ****** teams and act tough. This is embarrassing, they barely beat Boise State and lost to Oklahoma State with unlimited resources. They should beat USC every year.

Do UCLA kids go to Chris Brown concerts too???

Saying "the first two years are on him" or "he learned to coach" is pure ego protection; an effort to rewrite history rather than acknowledge how premature and half-baked this thread was 2 years ago.

This hyper-focus on Gattis is nitpicking and nonsensical. Massive program rebuilds follow the progression we just witnessed: Lose big -> Lose close -> Win close -> Win big. Mario addressed the Gattis hire immediately, and his short tenure had no impact on the trajectory of the program.

Playing for a National Championship Year 4—where it literally came down to a single missed assignment, without grace for it looking ugly or possibly making a bad hire those first two seasons is an unreasonable position. Trying to justify a nervous take based on Year 1 or 2 growing pains is revisionist history from people who ignored what each coach inherited and rode Lanning's dik a little too hard.

I guess if 'Mario learned how to coach', then Lanning must of forgot how to coach? Or maybe Lanning never knew how to coach and felt strong off what Mario built? Either way people were dead wrong and should just own it.

MAN THANK YOU! LITERALLY THE ONLY ADULT IN THE ROOM

Many on here say Mario left Lanning a great situation, but the #s say otherwise as far as # of transfers Lanning has made in his tenure to improve his roster. This was year 3 of Mario and Lanning is running circles around him again. Oregon got the better of the deal with Mario coming here

Some of us knew Mario inherited a **** roster. But there was a bunch of fans who thought we had a talented roster who could win. Which we all knew was cap. I know I have a post on here saying by the second time we play Florida we would have an elite team, and that team went to the natty. I didn’t expect it to be that good though
Say what you want, but the roster he had was still better than all other ACC teams outside of Clemson and maybe FSU. Full of 4 star and high 3 star players. And a few 5 star guys. Most ACC teams were in the 30’s and beyond in recruiting yearly. The numbers don’t lie. Mario needs a team of 5 star guys and high 4 stars to win. He’s an oline coach ffs. He’s not going to out scheme anyone. That’s why even last year we lost to two teams that had far less talent (SMU with many Miami rejects 😂). Those two teams completely out schemed us. Now the talent gap between us and the rest of the league is much wider! But the biggest difference (and kudos to Mario for this) is that the mindset and leadership of this organization is light years away from where it was when he first got here! Hopefully this is the year we finally not take an L to less talented teams we should blow out.
