TBH, when Al got here in 2011 we were hoping for the best. The 30% attrition since he's been at the Helm is finally catching up to us. D $ mentioned how we finally have 2 deep depth at DL (great), but WR, RB, DB, S, LB, and OL is thin on quality talent. W/ all the players decommitting and/or not qualifying to make it in...this is the result.

Optimism is a euphoric mental drug that often leads to complete disappointment. So for this version of the Canes team, I'll be cautiously optomistic, but it smells like another long season w/ Golden making a ton of excuses.

Wr, rb,s, lb, talent is the best it has been in years..... Cb top 3 is the best we have since antrel rolle left... Do you not remember we had lee chambers, Brandon McGee, mike williams from wake lol and then starting?.... Elder, howard, burns is a very good top 3....
Coley, waters, scott, berrios, lewis is better than any receiving group we have had in years and will improve greatly now that they have a real coach.... Solid top 3 with yearby, edwards, and walton. Yearby had the 3rd highest rate of ten yards or more runs behind Duke and cook in the ACC that also featured james Conner as well... Lb is the most talented and athletic group we have had since golden has been here. Do you not remember guys like Cornelius, gaines and then?

Yeah, see, this is just a flat out lie.

Our WR's this year are the same as last year minus Dorsett who was our best player. How does your statement make any sense? RB is the same as last year, minus Duke Johnson. That makes no sense. LB is the same as last year minus Perryman. Your comments are absurdly bad.

Reading comprehension skills? Where are they? I said a solid top 3 at running back and yes they can get the job done by committee. Yeah we lose dorsett but we gain scott back, if he was healthy last year he would be in contention with dorsett for the best receiver on the team, yeah we lose perryman but we move kirby into that spot who was solid, grace who is best of the bunch to will linebacker and combo of mccord and Owens outside at sam linebacker. Talent clearly isn't lacking there

This is what you said" "best it has been in years." How is that true when WR, RB, and LB are the same as last year minus the best player at each position?

Everyone is so fixated on the d-line. Does it suck? Yes. But so do other groups on this team.

I can't look at the team out of the context of the scheme. We run a 2 gap 3-4 Cover 3. Our d-line issues have been huge. Unless there was a giant leap forward, we have struggled with holding the edge and gaps up front, so teams gash us. We generate ZERO interior pass rush with our line. We have to rely on inside backer blitzes that are terribly designed, leaving us vulnerable. No player has ever notched more than 5 sacks in a season; other teams with 5 and high 4 star pass rushers can get their guys to have 3 or 4 in one game! Our linebackers have consistently struggled with their gap integrity and in coverage, especially in route recognition. Our tackling has sucked balls in the back 7. For the DBs, I can't remember the last time our secondary read a route combo, jumped the zone and made a play on the ball. ****, even when we get a QB to throw to someone in the deep 3rd, we can't make a god**** play on the ball. We constantly incorrectly pass guys off in zone and can't make a play on the ball in man. If all of those things have been fixed, then congrats, we'll have a decent defense with the depth we have. If not we're ****ed defensively, and that's before the offense..

Offensively, we relied heavily on the run game and play action. A majority of our plays were to Walford in the middle of the field or PD deep. If we can't run the ball because of our O-Line, we can't rely on the PA game. If our o-line can't pass block, the PA pass game doesn't matter. It will be nothing but bubbles and screens. Could we go 4-wide in the gun and let Kaaya lead us to points? Maybe, but Golden doesn't want that kind of pace and tempo. He want's to bleed the clock and let his ****** defense rest because they are on the field all **** game. Now imagine having this philosophy with 4 new starters on the o-line and no depth. It's easy to blame one position, but this team concept and roster management is absolutely ******. Throw in suspect play calling in a system that doesn't fit our personnel and you have losing seasons with 6 NFL players

He might mean "best" in a different way. They could be the best in some way not related to football ability or production.

DMoney, what do you think about the special teams? IMO, those units can mask a lot of deficiencies in other areas...

Can't really say. It's tough for me to get a read on the return and coverage units without full live contact. The punter is good, and the kicker is inconsistent.

Isn't this a big problem? In year five and we have an inconsistent kicker SMH. A good kicker is a very valuable asset to the team, especially when you are guaranteed three points from the 35 yard line in. Are good kickers really that scarce?

This season is going to be painful but the humor on this board will be outrageous.

4-8. Just get ready for it. My main concern is Kaaya. How do we keep him from being seriously injured? Kid deserves better than this.

I don't think we'll win only 4 games. Heck, we were worse in 2013 and won 9. My fear isn't winning 4 games, it's winning 8. Not bad enough to get Golden fired, and not good enough to win anything meaningful. 4 wins is a pipe dream, and so is 12. For that reason, we split the difference and win 8, making NO ONE happy. Well, at least no fans.

I think even 7, he stays.

OL a mess, no big time WR, LB spotty, DB a mess, no big time RB

How is this possible in year 5 at freaking Miami?

Your a real *******. Have you forgotten the cloud? This is Goldens first year without sanctions.

I don't understand how everyone continues to say that if Scott played he would have been our best wideout... That was never the case. The last time the two were healthy and played together Dirsett had over 800 yards compared to Scott who had over 500... He was never better than Dorsett... He still isn't... There is an obvious regression on our team.

Yearby only had 2 rushes of 10+ yards in the 7 games that we lost (1-Pitt and 1-GT). He also only had a total of 104 yards in those 7 games. He hasn't done anything against even a mediocre defense, yet....
