It must have been a great confession for the State to offer PTI on a rape charge, especially considering the particular prosecutor's reputation.

The girl didn't want to testify.

But what about this rock solid "confession" and everyone who witnessed it? Why didn't they offer them a plea that required them to admit guilt as an alternative? PTI for rape charges is pretty extreme, pointing to the fact that not only did the AV not want to testify (which is likely bull****), but that the case was complete **** in every other aspect.

sexual assault and assault are two very different charges. more importantly, how they handled the adversity has a lot to do with most coaches going to bat for them. what Figs did defines who he is, where as AQM followed protocol and is back on team.

rape cases are very hard to trial for if the victim doesnt agree to testify, most rape cases in general solely rely on victim and the evidence taken from that victim also its hard for prosecutors to even prove if it was a rape in the first place, wonder if she did a rape kit, the fact that they confessed to it is probably what got them PTI,

Right because in most rape cases, you don't have an alleged confession. You only have the word of the AV and D. So yeah, no **** that most of the time you aren't going to try a "he said she said case" when your only witness doesn't testify.

If there is a confession you can absolutely prove a rape occurred if the confession is legit, so I dunno what is tripping you up about them not being able to prove their case w/o an AV. You show your naivety and lack of knowledge on the way criminal law in Miami works when you make the statement like, "oh maybe because they confessed, they got offered PTI." Yeah, the State isn't going to pursue rape charges where there is a legitimate confession...

Moreover, how did the Central Park Five get convicted in '89? Pretty sure the AV was in a coma.

Let's look at some of the disrespect towards the "U" since Folden and the Temple of Bums took over:

>Recruits throwing "U" hats on the ground at their announcements
>Former players bashing the coaches
>Kids getting expelled and suspended for fighting because they were disrespected by other students
>Family members bashing the coaches
>Opposing coaches bashes the coaches
>Now former players burning the "U" flag

DA had no case made a deal with them, they confessed to it, they got off light, thats all that happened

They offered PTI and then they confessed? What are you talking about?

1. Confession
2. Realization that confession sucks
3. Realization that all of the other evidence sucks
4. Realization that they don't have anything to take to trial
5. Remedy their **** up with PTI

That's how it happened in all likelihood.

I've personally seen the SAO do some really ****ed up ****. Our SAO couldn't keep up with our workload we gave them and literally Nole Prossed Cases without ever reading the case report. Only to re-file later after we *****ed. A few with full confessions and cooberated evidence. I once charged a girl with several felony counts of theft, identity theft, uttering & forgery. Had the girl identified in a photo lineup and really good video of her using the stolen card. SAO tried to plea it to one count of petit theft lol. Judge later found out after the defendant wanted a trial and happened to have my case report with me. 20th Judicial Circuit

He can burn 1000 UM flags. He was given a chance and he confessed to sexual assault. Now maybe he got off because of some technicality or because someone F'd up, but the fact of the matter is that we are on probation and just like an average citizen who is on prob, we have to stay out of trouble by any means. He knew that and so did JBlue. So thanks for the memories, but its time to move on. It was a selfish act on his part. He knew how much we were depending on him and he blew it.
What is this technicality you speak of?

Dude's watching too much Matlock with this "technicality" ****. And if he actually "confessed" to sexual assault, we can rest assured he wouldn't have got PTI.

I believe in the original police report they admitted to tag teaming an unconscious 17 year old girl. They also admitted to buying her several drinks, and admitted they had knowledge that she had taken drugs. What can the school do at that point?

What exactly would you had done if you ran the athletic department/university?

Reinstating them after the fact could bring media scrutiny. The fact they got PTI doesn't mean they were innocent.

Most schools automatically suspend players charged with felonies. Given the hysteria in the media and the White House over sexual assaults on campus. 60+ schools are under title XI investigations, and with the hysteria around FSU at the time, the university had no options.

UF suspended Harris without him even being charged, mostly because they saw the ****storm FSU was under.

What if....

In other words, they admitted to having *** with an intoxicated female, female had next day regret, and as usual the response is to shoot first and ask questions later (kicked off the team, kicked out of school before anyone knew what happened).

This is a party girl that put herself in a situation she was embarrassed about, and she probably wanted to save the embarrassment of her parents finding out.

Not testifying and not getting closure is not putting something behind you. It is coming to terms with not ruining someone else's life because you have next day regret.
