Ferman is hinting that Highsmith deal is on the way

My post has nothing to do with whether or not AH would be good at this position. So under this setup, Blake would be President of athletics and AH would be GM of football. AH would be in charge of football and only football.

Two Questions:

1. Is there another school that has actual success using this setup? Please state the school(s).

2. Who would be in charge of basketball or other sports?
Hammi Ward will be in charge of basketball and FP Santangello in charge of baseball.

I’d be surprised if Coley isn’t fired today. Keep fingers crossed either Muschamp or Enos is dumb enough to hire Enos away from us.
Nope bobo was fired by colorado st. Muschamp and kirby will both try to get him

All indications are that the BOT likes the job the Blake is doing outside of football, let him run all that other stuff and AH can run and concentrate on football... not a bad idea

Huh. What does he do well and please cite examples?

A real AD can actually be a real good fund raiser as well, our BOT are so weak it’s crazy.
So we have to hire someone to do Fake’s job and oversee football operations.

I’m not sure what your argument is? You just want to fire everyone and start over? Got it....so of all the P5 teams that switched coaches in the last two years, how many have gone and stole a successful coach from another P5 program?

Florida is one...... that’s about it

So instead of spending 10 million to “ fire everybody” and then start over... you spend that money to bring in a front office guy that can run the football team and just the football team... AH can help revamp the support staff and recruiting offices to look and run like a professional team.

Blake has no clue with football but he is a very good fundraiser and the other programs are performing well. Baseball and Basketball.

He had nothing to do with Basketball.

Can you please provide examples of him being a good fundraiser?

The indoor facility? We have talked about needing that for a hundred years but it's here now and someone had to raise the money for it. Their have been many other improvements to other sport's facilities.

He didn't hire Larranaga but gets credit for supporting it and it still being a good program.

Baseball had its first good year in several years with a new coach, etc. All the money that Arod donated, someone worked on that.

I know everyone hates him and won't give him credit for anything but you need to fair and unbiased here.

That was Richt and the IPF.

He also has NOTHING to do with basketball.

We also have had an atrocious track record in football during his tenure.

Which ARod donation? In 2009? The business school one?

Its smart to bring in a knowledgeable football guy for football operations. Lots of pro teams have a Team President and a GM. President looks at team from macro level- administrative overhead, legal, public relations, ticket prices, stadium deals, etc. The GM handles day to day things like salary negotiations, coaching staff changes (only top dog coaches have final say on staffing, most times a GM has final authority), and game day logistics.

When Miami ends up with the next coaching search, I would be more comfortable with Highsmith running the search than Blake James.

Can you provide one example in college of this working and leading to actual success?

your not wrong for sure, the trenches, why can we not get linemen like we used to, every QB we have had the last 20 years has had to run for his life, not much better on the other side either. Blinded by the stars ? All they have to do is come to Texas like Jimmy used to, and Butch. I went to HS playoffs in Jerry World last year, watched 4a 5a and 6a back to back, **** near every Oline averaged 300lbs, even 4a, seems like they grow on trees around here
Honestly my friend if you look back aside from the early 2000s run we never had dominate Olinemen. We won on innovation and speed! That innovation started with Howard bringing in CFBs first pro set offense which got us beating the big boys which translated to JJs elite recruiting which translated to so much talent/speed that it was perfectly made for Ericksons one back offense. That’s how we won with innovation and speed against teams with giant olines like Nebraska, Oklahoma and Alabama. Compare it to the revolutionary war, we couldn’t beat the British lining right up opposite of them but we could and did beat them using innovative war techniques like guerilla warfare as we peppered them all day, all night with lighting attacks. That’s how we won and beat said teams above but unfortunately somewhere that innovation left and we became married to the pro style that started things for us but forgot it was the innovation that kept us winning. Hopefully one day the powers to be wake up and go spread but by the time we do will still probably be behind because they’ll probably be a new innovative offense upon us. It’s time to bring that same innovation back and win with speed again!

Just because you don't see it more often doesn't mean it's not going to work. Miami has often been innovators in college football so modeling pro organizations might be what the program needs.

I don't know that its been done on a college level but that's because most big programs have massive athletic departments. Different aspects of the job are farmed out to the staff so the AD at LSU or Alabama is functioning mostly at the macro level and isnt sitting at the desk with a calculator crunching numbers. Miami's department is much smaller so you would consolidate the daily ops into the football director. Its basically distribution of work like the big schools do, except for financial reasons it is distributed down to one guy.

When nothing happens and no one loses a job you gonna come take your L?

Keep getting owned by Gocanes and looking like the punked our loser you are
Owned by go canes? Lmao I think not sport, my banner flew and the troll banner you and him flew blew right up In your faces as it preceded the 2nd biggest Corching job this program has ever seen. Then my banner flew at the picture perfect time of the 1st biggest Corching job this university has ever seen in FIU! Lol so if you call that being “owned” then I have some ocean front property in Arizona to sell your dumb@$$! 😂 now it’s confirmed your a Hecht center troll, because only a Hecht center troll would be against the billboard and be hoping no one in this incompetent athletic dept gets fired for the good of the football team! Well you can pretend all you want your safe in in your Hecht safe room but that billboard is coming for your heads curtesy of REAL fans just like the banner did sport! Here’s a pic of that beautiful banner calling for your bosses heads incase you weren’t there at marlins park that day. 🤣
