Strong was the only coach Urban Meyer retained from Ron Zook's staff. He stayed until the 2010 season and was responsible for some of the defensive studs they had. Goes to Louisville and builds a winner that looked more like UM then UM has looked in ten years. Why again do we not want him?

I totally agree. Strong doesn't fit at UT. I live in TX - Charlie doesn't fit in with the good ole boys.
 
I would hire him over Shula, Mario, Chud or the Gorilla ... was also a great d-coach for Sth Carolina

Problem is he beat Oklahoma - that alone gets him 1-2 more years

No way he is UT coach is 4 years - no way
 
All depends on how he finishes the season. He would recruit well here and the defense would be lights out. I don't think he leaves UT though.
 
I thought Shanon recruited Bridgewater. :noidea:

The guy sure knows how to pick the bones off of our dead carcass though.

No to Strong.. Not what Miami needs at this time.
The pieces are pretty much in place for the next hire to win big.
Instead Strong with wipe the board clean like he did at UT and start from scratch.
I don't think this fanbase would allow him the 3-4 years that his approach takes. It would literally be exactly what is going on at Texas.

Louisville twice, under two separate coaches. VTech curb stomped us with Logan Thomas after the FSU let down in 2013.
 
I don't want this guy anywhere near our program. He might be able to put together a good defense but has been abysmal with that offense at Texas and makes one wonder what he will ever be able to do without a T. Bridgewater type.
 
People are saying that Strong is struggling at Texas with all their resources. When has Texas ever been about winning championships? They had all those advantages forever, and until Mack Brown got there haven't won anything.

Our fans really kill me. I understand the majority aren't too well informed about the game in itself. But if you realize that than stop with three constant complaints. A head coach is a figure head regardless of who we get. What's important is the staff he puts together. With that in mind you have no clue how set we'd be with chud as our coach. EVERYONE loves chud. Our coordinators would be insane... you people hoping for Fuentes or Hermann or buddy at WV clearly just don't pay attention. No more experimenting with coaches from small schools or **** conferences. We just need someone who's already part of the canes family & understands our culture & what it takes to win here...

90% of Power-5 coaches are better than golden, not even exaggerating. I'm not interested in a guy who can be better than golden. Clappy and Radio were better. I want a ******* national championship, and Charlie Weak ain't bringing us one.

With the talent he had at Louisville in comparison to the rest of his competition he repeatedly under performed @ Louisville. Now I'm not necessarily talking only about wins/losses. His teams were undisciplined and unprepared to inferior competition almost weekly @ UL. This is coming from someone who watched (and bet) on them regularly. He out talented people.

no one said he wasn't a good defensive coach, Texas is showing his Louisville run to be a fluke

So you're saying Randy Shannon wasn't part of the Canes family, or did he just not understand the culture? Maybe if he had pillars it would have worked out better.
