I believe I mentioned in the other thread specifically made to avoid threads like these that Franks was a plan Z of sorts...and it should stay a plan Z.

So you’d rather not upgrade the most important position on the team?..**** **** that. This a business. It’s about Ws..idc if he played for FSU, UF, or whoever. Keep the emotions out of it...out last winning QB came from UF🤷🏾‍♂️

I wouldn’t bet on it..kids a head case..he’s gets too up when things are going well, then down when things dont go well and then it snow balls..if they Bring in Franks, he’d beat all these guys out.

I'll say this too about Franks - if Rich Rod became our OC, then I would actually be a lot more interested in Phillipe because of his running ability. RR has a successful system that stresses the D, but it relies a lot on the QB being a ball carrier (which I don't like philosophically), but if we were going to a spread that required the QB to be the ball carrier a lot, then I would actually be a lot more open and interested in PF.

As it stands, the spread we're going to is my favorite one and it relies on the QB to get the ball into playmakers and rather than have the QB run and subsequently get beat up over the course of a season. This is also why I like the idea of bringing the Stanford kid in even though he's not the fastest sprinter. Costello is good analytically and that's what we need more than someone who can regularly pick up yards with their feet.
 
I'd only be interested in Franks if we had absolutely no other quarterback on the roster with which to work. But since we do have other options, no thank you. I watched the Florida-Kentucky game very closely this year, and Franks leaves a lot to be desired. Poor accuracy, poor anticipation, mediocre pocket awareness, and immature. Whatever physical gifts he has (size, arm strength, running ability) are negated by his shortcomings. I'd credit his statistical success to Mullen, Florida's defense, his wide receivers, and his offensive line (the 2018 version).

If we are going to take Gator players, let's only take good ones.

You see how much better UF played without him, what's that say about his actual ability?
