Just looking at some of those names.... Most of the nobodys on this list Al Davis signed for the speed.... Other than branch and gault, rest of them were mediocre

Darrell Green, multiple NFL's fastest man, but never knew he ran that fast on the track all those years ago.

Ol’ Al definitely seemed like he was drafting for a relay. But there are a few 10 year NFL players in there like Bates and Trapp; and regardless of his ability as a Pro ... Herschel has to be there. But there’s also a HOFer in that list and he’s the only one that has an individual gold medal (Bates has a bronze).

I agree.... But the ones Al Davis got.... Smh.... Hurts more cause imma raider fan

Lol at saying he almost got hawked by the Syracuse db when he clearly had to slow down to catch the ball

with a year of s&c and coaching from dugans, this kid with a healthy AR is a MAJOR problem.

Bob Hayes FAMU

Jimmy Hines TSU

I remember Jimmy Hines run a straight fly and beat the New York Jets corner by at least 10 yards. Bob Griese's pass hit him in stride 50 yards downfield. It looked like Griese handed him the ball. Of course Hines dropped it. Just an awful football player. The year was 1969. Thank goodness Miami picked up Paul Warfield during the off season.

I haven't seen a UM WR come off the line like that EVER....Not Tana...not Williams...not Parrish...None....JT was 10-15yds past DB before DB knew what hit him.....

When you consider that NFL HOFer, Bob Hayes, ran on a chewed up dirt track from lane 1 in Tokyo and still ran 10.06, he might be the fastest track athlete to ever play football.

If my history is correct, the Bullet tied the world record at a University of Miami track meet as a college sprinter. This was quite remarkable considering no Southern schools would invite anybody from A&M to their meets. Miami has always led the way in the South.

@Tetragrammaton Cane ...Story about Bob Hayes....Here in Orlando back in the 50s and 60s...there was a Major Track event every yr at Showwalter Field...Can't remember the name...Nevertheless...in 1992 I was watching some HS kids run track their...and there was 2 elderly Gentleman sitting there watching as well....So I struck up a convo with them..and they proceed to tell me a story about what Hayes did at the Showwalter Meet in the early 60s....they said..what Hayes did that day was not only legendary...but both said they've never seen anything like it then...and since...they said it STILL is a topic of conversation almost 60yrs later.....They told me...the CLOSEST thing they ever saw that remotely came close...was Houston McTear back in the 70s....Bullitt Bob was no joke...

Bob Hayes IS the reason there's a Prevent Defense....No WR in NFL History changed the course of DB play like Bullitt....

Exactly. I’ve seen diehard track fans argue that Hayes was better than Bolt if he ran in 2009. I don’t agree, but it just goes to show that Hayes is well respected. Hayes...is reported to have the fastest 4x1 split ever. Faster than Powell, and yes, faster than Bolt. LOL.

And, you’re right it’s Showalter Field. They used to run the State meet there.
Those two Old men were Serious about what they witnessed....I'm talking both of them were EXTREMELY well versed in Track....That being said....Houston McTear used to race trains as a HS kid....Seriously

Jeff Thomas got ran down on one play this year with nothing but grass in front of him.

He got run down in his highlights too...and at that camp he scored twice...had to do the Ed Reed zig zag stuff. He appears elite in 40 yards and under but not over that. I bet Harley would smoke him in 100.

No he wouldn't...wouldn't even race him...

LoL...Moss had NO bearing on the NFL like Hayes....NONE....
I dont know if i can agree with that. Bob hayes brought insane speed to the league at a time where it was almost unnatural. But randy moss the nfl completely changed rules for. He really was a freak of nature. Him being a semenhole i have trouble admitting that. But at a time when the league was full of insanely fast people HE WAS THE HNIC among them. His strides were so long you had no clue what was coming till he was gone...
