Upshaw may be similar to Barkate. Not too many people would say he looks like a 1,000 yard WR. But the ball finds him.

My favorite quote from Dawson in regards to Restrepo dominating targets: the ball tends to find the open guy. Upshaw seems like that type.

That's a real gauntlet, so coming down the stretch you want as many players who have as many snaps as possible under their belt. I've thought for awhile that with the way the schedule has expanded, you basically need to develop and play an extra player in every room throughout the season

Also , with the new 5-for-5 rule, you might as well play guys when they have earned it

I’m hesitant to say Mario has truly changed his stripes entirely, but I think last year absolutely taught him something, and also I feel like this is the year he’s been having wet dreams about. He clearly had Dawson play like we needed 50 a game in 2024 because the defense was a sieve. And he clearly had him play like we only needed 24 last year because he knew we had an elite defense and wanted to keep them fresh.

This is the year I think (hope? Please?) that he knows he’s championship good on both sides, so just go play like lunatics on both sides because we can win a game 20-17 if we need to, and we can win a game 41-37 if we need to. I don’t think he felt that way the last 2 years. There’s no excuses now. This team is as loaded as it’s been in 25 years, and the schedule is beyond pathetic. Go beat Stanford 45-10 in the opener and never look back.

Say what we want about Mario, but the man does adapt. He does learn. He’s stubborn, but he’s not a walled-off egomaniac. I really think he knows what he’s got this year and that “let it rip” **** flows right into this year. Beat the **** out of everyone on both sides from the opening whistle. I heard you on the pod yesterday say it correctly, last year was way too stressful on selection Sunday. We got a taste of that last year, that’s not where we wanna be. Want to avoid that? Win at least 11 games and have the vast majority of them be laughers.

Feel like upshaw is one of those guys that might just be good at everything and wont wow you with the physical tools but makes plays. You just keep hearing about him being consistent and that seems like that’s what Moore is missing right now

B1G just expanded their travel rosters, In ACC fashion I expect them to follow suit and expand travel from whatever number they are at, so this definitely tracks..

Bobby Bowden had a saying about the building of a program that went something along the lines of :"first your lose big, then you lose close, then you play 50-50, then you win close.... then you win big."

I really think UM (especially with this years schedule) is at the ''win big'' part

Where even that 3rd team guy feels the pressure to perform -- or he'll lose his spot to whoever is being recruited after him

My dream scenario is to have Mario be accused of running up the score in ACC play(don't care about the FAMU-like games, I get it, that's a bit different) and when Miami hammers a team like 51-0 and coach Cristobal says at the post-game presser, "We left points on the board, we gotta clean that up." -- and not even be kidding around

This time last year, all I heard about was how stacked the QB class would be in the 26 draft. Look how that turned out. If we have the season we expect to have, Mensah will not only put himself in the Heisman conversation, but will be on one of the top QBs in the draft.

Mensah didn't come here to play for two years. He wants to go pro next year, and Canes fans should all be rooting for the same

Your argument proves the opposite point though - all those qbs ended up coming back. Dante Moore would have been a top 10 pick for sure. Arch manning would have been a top 10 pick for sure. They returned. And now the 27 class looks like it'll have a lot of names at the least.

Also it's worth pointing out he can have a **** load of success here and still not be viewed as a top 5-10 pick, or a 1st round lock.

I'm hoping he has a Cam Ward like season and Draft hype, but with a national Championship win to add to the resume. But its certainly possible he returns - likely only if Dawson does though... Theres a lot worse things in life than making like $6M to play football at Miami with Toney as a jr and elite weapons and trench play around you.... And avoiding getting drafted by the Browns and Jets may be the cherry on top lol.

I dont think that was players fault, I was at that game and in 4th qtr both coordinators seem to pack it up.. Hetherman changed the defense to some drop back as far as possible defense and giving their qb easy reads to sideline throws picking up chunk yards with ease and offense put it in neutral.. At time we should of pin our ears back and tell our guys go hunt we were in chill mode.. Irked the **** out of me, I left the stadium ****ed lol.. We were DOMINATING them and thought we were gonna do them like we did gators in swamp circa 24

Very skilled route runner.

His stemming is advanced for a HS WR & is a very good hands catcher. Runs the full route tree, which most HS WR's, (especially the ones from a certain region) don't. Has good outside stacking ability as well.

Nice smooth & quick release; no wasted steps or motion. You can tell he's been Coached on how to properly release off the line. He's not doing the Cha Cha slide before running his route & has good transitional movement with his feet getting out of his breaks.

Runs really nice 5 & 3/9 combo routes.

Lacks raw speed & explosion, but will get open off...
