Expectations for this season?

It would take a colossal effort of elite level Corching to lose 5+ games with this roster.

With the Coordinator upgrades, the additions on Offense & the returning All-PFF talent we have on Defense, if Mario can’t figure out how to win 8 or 9 games then we’re doomed.

If Coaches like Sattefield, Dave Doeren & even The Narduzzi can muster up 8 win seasons with average at best rosters in the ACC, then Mario can manage the same...

This sh*t ain’t Euler’s formula, it’s Football, winning 8 games is not as difficult as people make it seem.

Jim Mora Jr was out of coaching for 5 years, got hired by UCONN, rolled out of bed & won 6 games with one of the worst rosters in all of CFB. 1-11 the year before he got there & hadn’t had a winning season in 12 years.

8-4 or 9-3 is doable.
We expected Manny Diaz to win more than 7 games with a worse roster than what we currently have. If Mario’s goal in year one was to drop expectations so low that we’re just hoping to get back to Manny Diaz level play, he succeeded with most of this board. Our schedule has 2 top 25 teams on it. There’s no excuse for losing to the Pitts and NCSTs of the world. Those teams aren’t good.

I like A&M to have a "bounce back" year but I wouldn't be shocked if y'all beat them either. That game along with the NC State and UNC games are three of the clear swing games on your schedule at THIS moment in my opinion.
Yeah, I’m not chalking up A&M as an automatic win. Even though they sucked, we can’t just out talent them.

zero expectations

hoping to see a fun to watch brand of football
young guys making strides
tvd playing well enough to get drafted
james williams plays up to potential

Last year was beyond pathetic. We were too talented to look so **** bad. If Caveman can only muster 7 wins this year, he needs to be thrown into the fire.

The roster is nowhere near where it’ll be when it’s the finished product Mario has in his head, but if they can’t win more than 6 with what they’ve got now, it’s gonna be a real long next half-decade.

6-6 would be honestly more disappointing than last year was. A ton of coaches look real incompetent taking over malignant programs in Year 1. Happens all the time. But the good ones very rarely look the same in Year 2.

Cristobal can eventually overcome his own corching with enough talent, like Larry Coker. Unlike Coker, Cristobal is capable of recruiting the needed talent on his own. So that's a reason to hope. I think he'll need around 20 5 star quality players to beat the UGAs and Bamas due to his game day coaching challenges. I say 5 star quality since we know the recruiting sites like to drop recruits points when they are leaning UM. So very high 4 star works too. Right now we probably have around 5. So we're 15 away. Figure he can get 3-4 of those guys per year, so that 5 more years before the roster is where it's good enough that his corching won't cost us. Let's just hope the NIL $$$ is still there because it's going to get harder to land top talent after multiple seasons with less than 8 wins over the next few years.

We won 3 ACC games last year. Bethune and Southern Miss barely count as wins. UVA took a 4 OT no touchdown miracle to eek out. We were that close to 4-8. GT and VT weren’t exactly pretty.

Do not do this to yourselves.

I would be over the f***ing moon with 8 wins but it would take enormous culture shift and on field improvement. Talent level was/is not the the sole reason we lose games. Duke and MTSU beat the living **** out of us. It had nothing to do with holes on the roster.

We’ve added mostly injured or G5 and below portal players and think that’s worth 3 more wins? I’ll believe it when I see it. Hope ya’ll are right!

We added the 7th best recruiting class and easily a Top 10 portal class. Again, this is not the roster we’re going to see when Mario has this thing totally in place. Not even particularly close. But the roster is absolutely better, the offensive coordinator is absolutely better, and our QB is healthy.

I’m not doing anything to myself. I don’t expect to have some sensational season. But this is year 2, 6-6 is unacceptable and would me a much bigger red flag than 5-7 in year 1. Infinitely bigger.

I'd like to see a mostly healthy squad for the entire season. I understand injuries will happen, but I'd be quite upset if the team is decimated by injuries this year like it was last year.

I’m actually still in wait and see mode. The new coordinators coupled with the roster turnover and additions SHOULD make a difference. How much of a difference will depend on a number of factors.

I don't think you (and many others) are accurately processing what a seismic shift these coordinator hires are. Mario is un-corching himself by definition by turning the reins over to Dawson. The likelihood of him greatly interfering is much lower too because he's not an expert in what Dawson is installing. What we are running now utilizes scheme as an advantage, vs. trying to out-talent every other scheme.

What a shame you aren't able to enjoy the process.

60-0, we got the next 4 natty's
