LOL....Shannon was a complete disaster. Went through about 3 offensive coordinators, quarterback management was pitiful, he couldn't speak the English language, recruiting classes were totally unbalanced, he was the most passive aggressive human being ever towards players and the media. Didn't have to deal with the Shapiro situation, and didn't have to deal with the former coach just flat out quitting recruiting in the final year (like he did).
Aside from those minor details, the OP's comparison is spot on.
Look, Golden is a disaster in many ways. But with dumb hyperbole like the contents of this thread, legitimate points are overshadowed by the idiocy.

Did you peck that post out with the tip of your pointy white hat?

So you are saying that the grasping of the english language is why they fired randy? He went through coordinators bc he tried to get better. Al just keeps the same ****bags around.
There is no objective empirical evidence that Al has done any better than Randy. In case you havent noticed, hes pulling up lame recruiting his fourth year as well.
Why are you trying to make this about race? and how you say we've responded to this Loss is just plain not true.
It seems the only difference in the two, is the color of the coach.
The black one got fired for coaching like this.
There is no other difference.
Many of us want Golden replaced. But the idea that people are now minimizing the disaster of Randy Shannon is just plain dumb.
I bet many of the same people were pushing for Shannon to be fired for years, but now romanticize his tenure to make some dumb "racist" point. He was a disaster. So is Golden. Racism has nothing to do with it. Golden appears to be getting more time because he followed a disaster, and also dealt with the Shapiro situation. That's all.
We'll see how long this grace period lasts.
I can only compare their records up to this exact point, Beef Stew, as I do not have a crystal ball. Saying "he finished 7-6" is irrelevant for this conversation.
I can also only compare their performances through 10 games, and the reactions of the fan base to those performances. These are all facts. If it makes you uncomfortable, sometimes that's what happens when a mirror is held up.
As far as trends, I only can tell you this..
Average margin of defeat through 10 games in Shannon's 4th season: 14 points
Average margin of defeat through 10 games in Golden's 4th season: 11 points
Average margin of victory through those 10 games for Shannon: 20 points
Average margin of victory through those 10 games for Golden: 22 points
The similarities are startling. Well, except for the fans' reaction.
In 2010 they were constructing a noose, in 2014 they're building a statute.
Who the **** is building a dam statue!? I swear, you want the guy fired, ask for the real god **** reasons at hand. Not making up the complete BS about racism. It's absolutely ridiculous and just plain annoying. What you're doing is the reason there still is real racism. You're making it about race, and then when people defend them from your ridiculous accusations it just keeps the cycle of racist accusations rolling. Why even throw the race in there? just make you're case without it. It completely destroys the validity of your argument. And stop acting like people are building him a statue.
With Shannon, 99% of the fan base were lighting torches, now, they're lighting cigars.

I guess the glare from the burning cross on your lawn is making it tough for you to read, but nobody is saying Shannon was not a disaster. Nobody is romanticizing his tenure.
I am pointing out a cold hard fact: both coaches were in the identical situations in their third and fourth seasons. They are interchangeable. The only difference is the fan reaction. Both deserve(d) to be fired.
However, to see the absolute night and day treatment each received despite identical performances is sad and racist.

Not joking anymore, the fanbase went in on Shannon after FSU blew us out. Fans were already waining in support after the Ohio State game. After we lost to Virginia it was the universal opinion that he had to win out. With Shannon, 99% of the fan base were lighting torches, now, they're lighting cigars.
Like I said I wasnt around here when Shannon was the coach, but I do know there were a lot of Shannon supporters. I remember on Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, Fannation etc Miami fans were supporting Shannon. I would say the same percentage of Shannon supporters and non supporters are about the same as to Goldens. You need to stop trolling people, you're a big name poster on here and your swaying the lesser minds with the whole race thing.

Probably because it is about race
You think the next head coach is gonna be black?
Would it still be about race if we hired Butch?
