Even if Golden is fired....

based on what track record are we expecting Blake James, Paul DiMare et al to make the right hire. Hiring a coach is often a matter of luck and circumstance. Jeremy Foley hired Urban Meyer but also Will Muschamp and Ron Zook. I have no faith in the process or those doing the hiring that we will be able to think outside the box and choose someone that will change things around. We've become a conservative university and thus will make a "safe" hire, just like our last two hires and then its rinse, repeat

Let's say we have a 1% chance of finding a National Championship caliber coach, that's still 1 more % than Golden's chances of ever not being a clueless dipshlt.

I'll gladly spin the wheel again and pray for the best.

I know everyone thinks this Admin is against Butch, but he would come to miami at a real good rate and win while we pay ALs buyout!
But it's probably just a dream

Agreed. Huge risk. But it's a risk you have to take. The chances of therm getting the hire right are much better than the chances of golden turning this around and having a decent season, and much better than the near impossibility golden ever wins a championship. We need a bounce to go our way for once...

Blake James has never hired a coach so there's no reason to be against him. With the university improving facilities, you can tell they want to win even if they aren't the best football minds. I think after a few strikeouts they might go bigger on the next hire just because it has to be embarrassing to miss on three straight coaches. The last major hire was Coach L and he is one of the best in basketball imo. Let's go for it.

The other thing is that people say that DS doesn't want to hire a new coach as an outgoing president. My take would be as a new president, why would I want one of my first acts as president to be the firing/hiring of a football coach. Its rife with potential problems for a new administration. I think any new president would prefer not to inherit such a situation. The AD should fire Golden and hire a new coach so that both the new coach and new president have a clean slate.

I would like to say that the admin has learned their lesson(s) from the following:

1. Coker's Extension (06),

2. Coker's Buyout,

3. RS Hiring,

4. RS Extension,

5. RS Buyout,

6. AG Extension, and

7. AG Buyout (soon to be likely)

That with each stupid decision (unnecessary extensions and poor coach choices) an expensive necessary action (i.e. buyout) will be followed. These extra actions (i.e. buyouts) end up costing us more money on the back-end and would be better spent on the front end (the hiring). But I don't believe they have.

The one hiring, who came to UM, that tells me the otherwise is Coach L. Coach L and his extension, shows me that at least the school is willing to listen when a coach comes to them. His extension also made perfect sense. The guy transformed the program and made us much better (almost overnight).

I am hoping they see the light this time around.

If it comes to it, Blake goes with what he knows IMO. That means the coach comes from the Davis era.

Would rather take the shot at firing and hiring someone competent rather than continue being a racist organization.

I'd rather have a shot at lucking ourselves into coach, like what happened with Larranaga, than sitting around doing nothing, going with a proven loser.

No one is saying we keep him, what I am asking is why we think this decade of futility will ever be over.

Because the fans and alumni of the school refuse to accept a DOA POS on the field, and they light a fire under the asses of those responsible....

Hiring a coach is a crapshoot. I mean even Alabama hiring Saban. I mean he was floundering with the Dullphins, nobody knew if he could turn around a Bama program that had been mediocre for 15 years. Same thing with Pete Carol, who was a failure in the NFL his first time at it. You just don't know what will happen when a coach takes over. That said, there are some guys who have done it before and therefore have a better chance of making it work. This is why a guy like Butch Davis would be a good hire as opposed to an inexperienced Head Coach, which is what Coker and Shannon were, or a Head Coach who has never ran a program that wins big games which is what Golden is.

What really sucks and they we are still desperately trying to keep it at just a decade of futility...that ship has unfortunately sailed.

bring butch back, all is solved. that **** ain't going anywhere if he come back. He'll take a discount. He'll recruit here better than anyone. He'll get the staff right to get the successor.

That's why you hire a real athletic director. Sam J had no problem finding good coaches.

Also, when your search requires academic parameters you DRASTICALLY reduce your pool of choices.

Hire a football coach, not a ******* Hall Monitor.
