ESPNS PROJECTED STANDINGS ACC

Anybody who was off of Randy's bandwagon after the Wisconsin debacle and subsequent egg laying signing day, should be in the same position now with Golden. It is hypocritical to do otherwise.

After 3 years my disappointment is the continued lack of physical, mental, and skill development of our players. At UNC, Butch Davis was pumping out NFL players by year 3, at a school that sucked and has no recruiting base. Yes Randy was the WOAT and the talent left was mediocre; but NONE of it has developed.

at this point we are much further along than Randy vs Wisconsin.

we are actually beyond where Randy lost to USF at home.

F.A.G. deserved to be fired at the end of 2013. this year he is a dead man walking.

We are the most delusional fan base. We have not proven anything to the university, the fan base or our alums. Why do we get so mad when these analyses come out. Don't get to comfortable with Golden guys because he bet the ranch and the mansion on his best friend. A 7-4 season is the kiss of death for Golden. He either gets fired or is TOLD to revamp his staff.

No fairies, etc. Duke won the Coastal last year with the 82nd ranked defense in the country. My hope is that with the upgrades we have, our D will at least improve to that sh**ty level. If so, we are in the running for the Coastal.

let me ask you this:

suppose that is true. suppose we could magically win the coastal (and then likely get embarrassed by FSU twice) with a less ****ty defense (like one ranked in the 70s or so). this would save F.A.G.s job even though we would still suck

why would you want that?
OK...you've said this season is a "throw-away" season more than once in other threads. That, along with this dumbass leading question above, I have a problem with. To me, that's a slap in the face to every kid on this roster, and for you to do that makes you a worse fan than our D is sh1tty.

I'm sorry dude...I've got my own problems with Golden/NoDFrio...but no way in **** am I passively or actively going to root for this team to fail in order to have a coaching change occur. You've implied that as being your purpose for this season on more than one occasion.

This ain't about me rooting for/defending Golden and his boy. This is about me rooting for these kids to succeed. They're the ones putting on the uniform, and for you to basically imply that you hope they lose and that this season is a "throw-away", is reason enough for me to root harder for them to rise above the odds and succeed. I swear, you're like Randy Quaid's character in Major League 2. If we somehow overcome adversity and do well this year, I'd better not catch your *** at the ACC Championship Game in Canes colors. You can go ahead and keep rooting against us just to get rid of Golden if you want. Me...I can't do that...and I think it sucks that you can.

Great post.

Yeah, it's hard being an old school Cane and seeing that, but I'm guessing they feel our season tanked when Ryan got injured. I have little knowledge of what the other teams will have but I know we're not losing to Duke, Pitt, and UNC at home.

I love it!

I love being an old school Cane and seeing us underestimated and underappreciated. Just keep sleepin' on us and I'll be fine.

Some of our best seasons came when they didn't give us any preseason respect.

Atlantic
1. FSU
2. UL
3. Clemson
4. Syracuse
5. NC STATE
6. BC
7. Wake

Coastal
1. V-Tech 8-4 (5-3)
2. UNC 8-4 (5-3)
3. PITT 8-4 (5-3)
4. DUKE 8-4 (4-4)
5. GT 7-5 (4-4)
6. Miami 7-5 (4-4)
7. Virginia 4-8 (2-6)

WOW what a slap in the face

Have we shown the world any indicators that would disagree with this analysis?

apparently 99% of this board thinks that we are going to magically be good next year with a QB that has never taken a snap in college after we got embarrassed 4 out of the last 6 games to end 2013.

these people probably believe in fairies and unicorns too

We've done it before, we did it with Bernie and we did it with Steve Walsh. We just won't do it with this surfer dude who has not gotten serious about football until the spring. He's done nothing yet to inspire confidence, and was just OK, at best, in the spring game (and that's being generous). If he had come in as a freshman and impressed everyone with his work ethic and performance it would be different. A kid I remember doing that was Gino Torretta, who was just signed as filler, because of his brother Geoff. The story got out that he was lighting up on the Scout team. Gary Stevens was OC and said he hadn't had a chance to go over and really look at him but the word was going around that he was surprising people. He was on nobody's recruiting list...nobody's. I asked Allen Wallace, the west coast guru from SuperPrep and he had never heard of Gino and the kid was in California. So, he goes on to win the Heisman.

In the meantime, Kirby Freeman was ranked as high as no. 2 in the country, and one of top two in Texas with Rhett Bhomar, or Brett Rhomar, or whatever his name was. Kyle Wright was one of top two with that kid who went to UF.

Olsen might have a lot of talent and potential, but he's got a lot to prove, especially after his senior year in HS and his freshman year.

Good thinking....let's throw every game, so Al will get fired.

Love the mentality on this board...or as the Power3tAwesome buckeye used to say, mentrality.

What seasons were those? Who was the QB?

This is so hilariously wrong on every single level you should just throw your computer away.

Only team in the coastal that I wouldn't have a problem being picked ahead of us is UNC. And we beat them on the road despite horrible QB play and 2 of our best playmmakers getting injured early in that game.
The rest of the picks ahead of us defy logic.

except that Dook beat us by 18 points and VT ran a train on us at home. yeah other than that

Except that we beat them both the season before last which didn't stop them from beating us last season so obviously your logic and reasoning needs some work.

LMAO

OK then how does it defy logic that those teams be picked ahead of us considering that they beat the **** out of us last year?
Because I'm not looking at previous year results to project performance. I'm looking at their rosters, depth, experience, veteran leadership, number of elite players, etc. You know stuff your average fan would consider.
,

so basically all completely 100% subjective BS. right thats what i thought

you should look up the word "logic" and reconsider your original comment

8-4 seems to be what this team looks like to me. 9-3 would be nice, 10-2 is a looooooooooooooongshot. 7-5 seems low considering all of the unknown factors in the Coastal this year.

Always be a Cane, but did you ever think you'd see the day?

I was such a big Golden fan. Thought we had hired a guy who could win a little bit at Temple, which used to be impossible. Unfortunately, he just can't beat anyone he's not supposed to.

Who was Ryan Williams?

Only 3 teams in the ACC are returning with their QB from a year ago.

ESPN isn't selling the off their Cane stocks over a QB.

but how many of them will start a QB who has NEVER played one down of college ball?

Since this thread is teetering in the direction of talent. Outside of FSU, because we know in large part. They are better in more position head to head.

What remaining teams on our schedule. Can you look down the line, and say. **** they just are better than us.

I'll start QB off.

Outside of FSU, Duke and Virginia. Unless i am mistaken. Every team is breaking in a new QB on our schedule. Some may have some mope up time, but overall. None off them are popping off in my head. As to just being some bad *** dude from a year ago. So does anyone really have an edge?

Explain to me the rest of our schedule. Just let me know what teams beat us at certain positions.

Coaching is well documented. So lets keep this about our talent vs theirs. Hopefully we can get some good discussions on this.

Don't disregard mop up time; it counts. There is a huge difference between a player that has experience - mop up time or otherwise - at the D1 level vs. a kid that has never, not once, stepped on the field. It is exceedingly rare for a QB with zero experience to not make a litany of mistakes. they just are not accustomed to the game speed, the sophisitcated blitzes, the crowd, etc...

And worse still, we've heard nothing but negative reports about Olsen. Outside of being a highly-touted recruit, he's been nothing but a disappointment in terms of film study, maturity, and performance in the scrimmages.

So, given those factors, what on earth leads you to believe he will perform well, assuming he beats out the true freshmen?

Duke has been in the same system for 7 years now! DUKE HAD A GREAT YEAR!!!! GEEZUZ!

How many other times have they beat us besides this one great year they had? Even under Golden?

Ok. So now we're gonna pretend as if you didn't blame our bad season on our lack of talent? Cool.

Also, I did a quick Google search and this is what I came up with. Apparently we've only played Duke 11 times and have only lost twice. This past season and in 1976.

Read carefully, real careful. The talent level of our seniors last year was low. No one is blaming our "bad" season on anyone, as you call it. We were who our record says we were, and that was a 9 win team, even with the senior talent not being where it should be.

So yeah, Duke winning 10 games for the first time in their entire history would be considered an outlier.

I understand your flawed logic. Because we only have 2-4 seniors who'll be drafted that means our team was bad. That still doesn't explain why Duke was able to win 10 games when they have 0 that will be drafted.

:ibisroflmao:
LMAO! Let me guess, they were able to win 10 games because the coaching is superior! Even though it was 7 years in?

You are special.

Keep the crying going....

They do more with less. Duke does not come close to getting the level of recruits that Miami gets and yet they are better than us now?

They DO ? Duke had 1 great year out of the 7 their staff has been there. Does them having 1 great year mean they are better than us now? I don't believe so. Who is saying they are better than us now, this new year?

I told homeslice earlier they had a lot of seniors. He wanted proof, I showed him. I expected excuses, and sure enough, he cried about the source. He didnt question the content of the source, because he has no idea what he is looking at, but then cries and says he meant number of players invited to the combine, expected.

Cry babies will always find something to cry about.
