ESPN ranks Top 10 QBs in College Football

Tell me how Carr gets ranked ahead?
I cannot wait to see what Mesah does w the upgraded talent!!!

I think the point is he was a QB drafted within the first 3 rounds, that was drafted with the expectation of being a starter, but basically flamed out.

The league is over-drafting QB's & it's resulting in guys getting picked way higher than they should when it's obvious they're not that good to begin with. Then they're being forced to bench them & start all over again.

The problem is it’s a QB-centric league with only a handful of elite QBs spread over 32 teams. The math doesn’t math.

What’s the solution?

I know, he had no business being drafted rd.3 was my perspective. He was a waste on Day 2. The guys that are thriving out of college are the 4th, 5th and 6 year seniors. Drake Maye is one of the outliers but even he started 30+ games. I think teams are grabbing these young guys with limited college reps with no real plan for development. Coaches are getting fired in year 2 now so they aren't make the same investment in development.

More stringent eval process.

Too many Front offices are lazy & not doing their due diligence. Scouts are just watching prime time games & going off of team success, instead evaluating the individual player.

Some of these guys are very obviously not good QB's. When you watch them play, they don’t do anything that stands out. They spend all game checking the ball down & because they play on a stacked roster their team wins a lot & these Front office personnel people are mistaking the success of the team to the success of the player.

And they're getting ready to do it all over again with this upcoming draft when you keep seeing names like Arch Manning, CJ Carr, Julian Sayin etc.. These guys will get overdrafted & in 2-3 years, they'll all be backups.

Correct. I think sometimes people forget the very complicated fact that only 1 QB can start.

I’m not at all surprised that the Vikings are going with Murray over McCarthy. Talk about a bad eval and a total reach. At Michigan McCarthy looked like a decent high school QB from the early 1990’s. He QB’d a team that was all about running the ball and playing defense. Roll him out and have him hit the WR running an out. So basic. And of course it’s not gonna translate to the league.

Trinidad Chambliss has some promise, but I'm watching to see how he looks without Lane.

If Demond Williams were taller he'd be a guaranteed 1st rounder. It's just difficult to project if his physical build will be a hindrance at the next level.
 
Alternatively, two separate perspectives:

First, I prefer the Packers model before everything else. Other teams don’t implement it for various reasons, but I feel like it’s best for quarterbacks.

The nfl has an over drafting QB problem.

Only Fields and Levis were drafted in the correct range in terms of their prospect value. All the other QBs were over drafted based on need and it was not the least bit surprising that they didn’t work out.

Sayin is the exact kind of QB that previous tweets & earlier discussion was about.

A kid who's surrounded by talent who will get overdrafted because of his team's success, but he himself is a very average/mediocre QB.

Dante is in the wait & see category. I'm personally not a fan & not a believer, he's a high turnover prone passer & whenever he's played legitimate Defenses his numbers drop drastically & he looks pedestrian.

If he can improve on his weak areas this season he'll likely get drafted 1st round, but tbh I'm unconvinced he has what it takes to be a viable NFL starter.

Very good True Freshman season.

Typically, I'm weary of Left handed QB's, there's only 2 in the league right now & neither one of them are all that good. But, it's not solely because they're left handed, more to do with their size & lack of overall arm strength.

JKS however, has prerequisite size & a very good arm for a Lefty.

His trajectory definitely looks like a future NFL QB, we'll see how he progresses over the next 2 years, but so far so good.

I'd say, right now coming into this season as a True Soph, he's already a top 10-15 QB in the Nation. And the fact he's not surrounded by elite talent, or playing at a powerhouse program, but still playing at a high level bodes well for his development & overall future.
