ESPN ranks Top 10 QBs in College Football

I posted about this in the Mensah vs Carr thread. Carr did very little last year to carry the offense, he relied on his elite run game and superior talent on the outside to be successful. Every highlight was PA to someone high-school wide open or a 5050 ball. He had less than 10 throws all season where he threw the wr open or put it on the money in tight coverage. He barely touched the middle of the field. I dont know who the back in ND is but if he isnt a top 3 round pick I expect Carr and ND to struggle on offense. Both Love and Price were dynamic and they garnered all of the attention. Stopping Carr was an afterthought. I think DCs will be able to focus more of their attention on taking away the things Carr likes to do this season instead of having to go all out to stop the run.

Carr was the best player on the field for ND vs us. Carr having a great supporting cast and him having elite traits and talent are not mutually exclusive; both can be true. And it’s ND under Freeman. They are going to have talent everywhere. Spot the ball.

Then who genius? One of their RBs who couldn’t crack 50 yards? One of their DBs who pulled, held, and got away with so much vs our WRs? Let me guess. It was Raradan the TE.

Their DBs were still good even though we got em a couple times. Jadarian Price manufactured one of their drives pretty much by himself. Id vote Price as the best player they had that day.

Carr almost threw the game away on that pick to Bain. His "excellent" performance came down to a handful of broken plays. The one down by the end zone where he ran around and found a dude wideass open, a couple qb draws that popped, and another coverage ***** up where we left their TE WAO. He did nothing with his arm that was impressive in any way. The kid was the football equivalent of Jay Fiedler in that game.

I don’t know where you get that Carr played “excellent” because you’re not quoting me. But he was the best player on the field that day for them. He had 3 total TDs and one of them was an exceptional scramble out of trouble and finding a guy in the end zone.

3 or 4 improvisational successes on broken plays does not make a great player, especially when he did zero in rhythm within the framework of his offense to make his team better. He hit Raridon on a busted coverage, had two qb dives, and the scramble around busted coverage TD. Thats all he did. Sure he cashed in 3 scores so his stat line was really impactful but for 90% of the game the kid was *** and did nothing impressive froma QB stand point. Call it gutsy or atheltic but it wasn't teach tape on playing QB at a high level.

It was his first game. And nothing of what you said nullifies that he was the best player on the field for ND that game. Why can’t you walk and chew gum at the same time?

Because as I have stated Jadarian Price was the better (and under utilized) player for them. Price gashed us on one of their scoring drives of which Carr was able to get one of his improvisational scores. Had ND spent less time handing it off to Carl Lewis wannabe overrated *** they may (probably not) have gotten more going against our D.

Carr had a top 5 O line and 2 first round backs. He was carried by them all season. The fact that he was able to finish a few drives against us and help ND be in position to win the game doesn't make him the best player he just wasn't a bad player.

Remember it was also our first game playing together with a basically all new back 7, under a new DC. We sold out to stop the run and dared him to do something and he did very little unless we completely blew the coverage.
 
The athletic released their rankings of all 138 projected starting quarterbacks.

Mensah was fourth after Chambliss, Moore, then Carr.

JKS @ Berkeley is fourteenth, Kevin Jennings is fifteenth, John Mateer sixteenth, at the start of tier 3 is CJ Bailey at seventeenth, and from Pitt—Mason Heintschel at 23rd.

Top G6 quarterback, uniamously, is Brad Jackson from Texas State, ranked 27th. “How they kept him is unbelievable.”
