ESPN loses 22k subscribers

I don't really like eSECpn so I don't relish defending them but they're fine and will be more than fine- especially since they can bundle their streaming services with Disney's now.

For every layoff you hear at eSECpn there is a monster contract given to Screamin' A or Troy Aikman or Joe Buck. They're just often choosing to budget for "talent" over the hoi polloi in Bristol.

Lol At saying they are doing well cause of the false positive increase in subscriptions. The article actually gives You the answer. They didn’t get new subscriptions they just bundled them in with hulu live tv subscribers and increased the live tv price. Like magic!!!! Easy gimmick to fool the public. Forced subscription increase. Post huge numbers of increase and people Think they are doing awesome.

Hahaha. Ol' "Clay" (his real name is Ricky) with the incessant ratings talk. Same dude that used to do the incessant gO WOke GO brOkE! shtick with the NFL and NBA ratings too.

Dude shouid stick to what's really important in life....getting kicked out of little league games and thinking his version of the story actually makes him look good.

@Tad Footeball actually you are 100% wrong

Nfl, nba and mlb have taken huge hits with promotion of the woke brigade. When it started hitting them in the pocket, they quickly reversed the in your face wokeism. Believe it or not It is 100% true.

- Anti American and Racist Kap? Gone
- kneeling for the national anthem disrespecting our great country and our military? Gone
- BLM corrupt shakedown and money laundering organization shaking down companies all While rampaging thru cities burning buildings and looting stores? Support gone

There were massive internal meetings, investigations, polling etc on why they were losing money, eyeballs, people in the stands. The pinheads at these orgs thought because the media gas lights everything giving a false sense of acceptance and they everyone supported this junk and they live in the new york bubble thus insulated from everyday Americans their core audience, they should push the woke bs. It backfired.

They quickly reversed course and went back to the off hand woke bs stuff and not the in your face woke bs.

They've moved to streaming. ESPN+ is doing very well actually.

Despite a high-profile stumble by Netflix last quarter, the streaming business remains the division where Wall Street is placing much of its focus, and the company updated its efforts in the space Wednesday, with Disney+ adding 7.9 million subscribers last quarter to hit 137.7 million total. Hulu added 300,000 subscribers to reach 45.6 million subs (a Black Friday promotion last quarter may have pulled forward some growth), and ESPN+ added 1 million subscribers to reach 22.3 million.

The actual number is probably closer to 18 million when you take out the bundle. But they're doing just fine.

I don't really love or hate ESPN. Herbie, JJ Reddick, Jalen Rose, and the PTI guys are probably their only personalities I like. They produce great documentaries and specials from time to time. This need to cheerlead their downfall is strange af. Just don't watch.
ESPN+ is doing well bc you can watch almost any kind of live sports. B12 games all year round, UFC, college baseball and their tourney has games on there this year, hockey, soccer, and I’m sure more that I don’t know about. They’ve monopolized s huge portion of live streaming sports. And it’s only gonna get bigger when Texas and OU go to the SEC. I have no idea if peope actually watch the shows like “Peyton’s Place” or anything like that. So who knows if they help. But with all these other streaming services charging $20+ a month I’m sure their price increase is coming. If it reaches that $20 or more threshold they’ll lose buyers.

When it comes to Clay, he loves to make fun of things that gets people riled up and gets them to watch his show/drive website clicks. He doesn’t even need OutKick. It’s a hobby for him now since him and Buck got Rush’s radio spot. I mean he’s not even a real conservative. Dude voted for Gore and Obama twice. He just picked the side his radio listeners are on.

No one wants to see politics in sports, sports is sports we want to watch talent. Well for me I dont care about anything else to be honest.
Politics has always been a part of sports, pretending that it is a new phenomenon is willful ignorance. Sports, like most activities tend to reflect the society at large. Let's cut the nonsense, the "Keep politics out of sports" crowd are mostly people that are mad that "Those People" are the ones saying something.

When Joe Louis knocked out Schmeling, and for one of the few times in history, White people actually gave a **** about a Black man, that was a political moment.

When Jackie broke the color barrier, that was a political statement.

When John Carlos and Tommie Smith took a stand at the Olympics, that was a political statement.

Keep in mind, this happened at a sporting event, and it led directly to Ross Barnett defying JFK in regards to integrating Ole Miss.

You took the words out of my mouth. I am a prime example of this number manipulation. I was previously an espn+ subscriber on my own years ago. The day they announced the Jemele Hill/Colin Krapernick interview I canceled my sub. A year or two later I now had switched to Hulu from regular Concast cable and guess what? It's included in my package and I am now counted as both an espn+ and disney+ subscriber even though I didn't subscribe to and don't use either. See how that works?

Im glad someone on here is honest enough to just come out and say what they are referring to when they say "I dont like mixing politics and sports". Like we are over here talking about the some oil crisis in the middle east. We all know the kind of "politics" that is being referred to so lets all just come out and say it and be grown ups here.

He and Will Cain basically are opportunist. They found themselves a market and attacked it. (hardcore conservative minded sports viewers) I can't knock their hustle. Its working.
You nailed it. Cain and Travis pander to “conservatives” while every major network… especially ESPN panders to the left.

Sounds like you'd love the WEZ.

Have you ever walked around Disney property and thought, hey "I bet orange county or the state would do a much better job overseeing this property". Of course not.
That isn't the point, the point is Disney has been taking advantage of something they NEVER should have had in the first place. It's the equivalent of you opening up a new company, applying for non profit status to avoid taxes, and then conducting your business in a FOR profit manner and not adhering to the non profit rules.

The old man ACQUIRED those special privileges under false pretenses. The original pitch he gave BOTH the state commission and the federal government was that the land was going to be the original vision of EPCOT, and I'm not talking about the theme park. It was going to be a self sustaining city where people could be born in, live in, go to all levels of school within, get married in, and eventually get jobs within it's own little downtown area. AFTER he got those privileges and they were grandfathered in, he conveniently "changed his mind" and decided to turn the land into theme parks.

I'm not knocking the old man, he was a pioneer and a visionary and the fact of the matter is he did what he had to do to build something of that scale. However, TWO things can be true at once. He can be both great and someone who bent the rules for purposes they were never intended for. Disney used that bending of the rules to get to where they are....but enough is enough. It's time for them to be treated like every other for profit company in America.
