Ermon Lane

Of course a WR can have success at any school, but why not put yourself in a better position for success by going to a school that airs it out and has a solid history of producing top WRs like UM. They have produced some of the best the NFL has ever seen. (10K yards in a NFL career is just crazy)

And UF has produced well... just Percy Harvin (and lets see if he ever gets 10K)

so their production in the nfl is directly attributable to attending miami and not their individual talent, the qb's throwing to them in the pros, the system they play in in the nfl, etc.? ok then. ridiculous, but ok have at it. if that's the case nfl teams should just draft every draft eligible receiver from miami, that's basically the argument.

Not just Miami, but teams who air it out and have a history of producing top NFL WRs.

UF just does not do this.

Assuming that Ermon Lane is choosing his school with *only* a high spot in the draft and his future NFL career in mind, these are the things that matter (in order):

1. How much he's going to get the ball, i.e. scheme. This also accounts for what kind of situations he's going to get the ball in -- will he be catching short outs all day or will he be catching TDs and playmaking? -- and whether or not his QB can actually get him the ball.
2. How well the coaching staff understands his talent/him and will develop/prepare him for the NFL
3. How good his team (or unit) is going to be, for exposure and more TDs

The history of how well a specific university "produces" players at his position for the NFL has jack sh*t to do with this, unless it's one coach that's been doing it the whole time. That said, Miami is still IMO a better option for him than Florida. As others have pointed out, Miami's current scheme is way more receiver-friendly than UF's. NFL scouts generally do a good job of seeing talent for what it is, but it's just ignorant to say that catching 100 passes and 15 TDs (as opposed to blocking half the time and getting like three looks a game) isn't going to give you a huge boost.
