Entire Athletic Department is Dysfunctional and a Disaster

I personally believe the powers that be have the athletic program exactly where they want it. The transition from “The U” to Wake Forest South is complete. No group is dumb enough to inadvertently go from Coker to Shannon to Al to Richt without a plan to suck. It’s just not possible this is inadvertant.

UM needs to first decide if it wants to be a power in today’s world. If it does, then it needs a complete overhaul of its approach and needs to get out of that “we won in 2001 without support staff” mentality. If it’s cool with being UVA/BC/UNC level, then just keep what we’re doing.

You will never surpass the current superpowers without making football a huge priority from a resource standpoint. You can’t beat teams with former high level coaches on support staff while you have a few recent grads with unknown football pedigree.

On top of all that, we need to scrap this “how will it look publicly if we hire ______” loser approach. We need to get back to hiring swashbucklers like Ken Briles who wants to hang 70 on everyone and doesn’t give a fck what anyone thinks.

Agree, I even agree to most of his post. However, what’s the point all those accomplishments, if the coach in his 3rd year, has the program going down the ***ts tube?

AD is worthless if BOT doesn't care and/or is not willing to spend money on achieving excellence.
In fact, if the BOT doesn't care, it will be reflected on the shti ADs representating the program.....hence, our current AD.

This is pretty much what I was gonna say, IMO it's why they hired Mork instead of BBB to begin with, they knew pastor Mork would run a squeaky clean program and win a few ballgames in the process. Hiring BBB may have won a lot more games, maybe even a chip, but what comes with that chip is what their afraid of. You also have to consider, this ain't Texas or Bama, or even ufag, where EVERYBODY loves football. We have a bunch on the BOT and BOD that ain't never even seen a football game and could care less if we even have a team. Like Franchise said, need to find out first if the higher ups even want to win or not, they may be cool with status quo

This. Plus the mindset has to change in other ways.

UM doesn't care about football but cares about the IMAGE of its football team.

That has to be reversed. We should care about football and not care what people say or think about our team.

I've never seen all 3 major sports in such a sad state at the same time

Football - A disaster of a season, a head coach who's stuck in the 1980's with an abortion of an offensive staff, and a recruiting class in shambles

Basketball - The inexplicable suspension of Dewan Hernandez, losing to Rutgers and Yale

Baseball - Handing the keys of the program to an incompetent moron, a once proud program can't even make a freakin regional anymore.

Pathetic.

Women's athletics? Seriously?

What does any of that chit have to do w/ winning in football? Has it helped our recruiting? Has it helped our on field play?

Dude talking about Football season ticket sales...just wait until next season to see what our numbers look like. You can't have a loser organization in the city of Miami and expect fans to blindly follow the club and donate money, etc.

Exactly. The tickets started selling after Richt was hired. There's been straight vitriol spewed on this board and other boards about Richt for a minute now.

Jesus another big picture thinker.

You’re right, elite facilities, state of the art weight rooms and cutting edge nutrition programs have no effect on recruiting and winning.

That’s why big time programs have spent literally hundreds of millions of dollars on them.

Try wrapping your brain on a period longer than the last Duke game and maybe you’ll start to get it.

Get what? I'm tired you male anatomy breath, company men saying stupid chit like this. So what is the big picture? Is it keep spending money to make the school and facilities look nice? OK, great. Then what? B/c right now, since that IPF has gone up, our recruiting has plummeted to 35th w/ only 2 offensive players committed out of the 14.
