Emory

He'll be the guy next yr..
Anyone who doubts that should listen to the words of our offensive coordinator on his priorities with quarterbacks:

"You got to see something in the kid that kind of triggers you, and to me, it’s all about accuracy. You look at all these quarterbacks that are five-star kids, and they don’t all work out. Typically, the reason they don’t work out is because they’re not accurate. Like you can have a strong arm, and you can be athletic. You can have all these things, but if you can’t throw the football accurately from point A to point B, you’re going to struggle as a quarterback."

The fact of the matter is, if you can’t throw the football accurately, you can get all these quarterback gurus you want to help you, it just ain’t happening, brother. Your throwing motion has been ingrained into your body since you’ve been throwing rocks as a little kid, and you’re not changing that. You can change it in a drill, but once live action happens, you’re reverting back to what’s natural, and good luck."

That's from a 2020 The Athletic article detailing his efforts to recruit 2* Stetson Bennett and 3* Mac Jones because of how special he thought they were.

We open next season on the road against Florida. Its the opening game of year 3 for both coaching staffs. Its in Mario's DNA to make a statement. Call me old fashioned, but I think he is going to go with an experienced portal QB.

We also have road games against Clemson and Notre Dame.

I'm not expecting Emory to be the starter against Florida next year. I don't think Mario is expecting him to be. And most importantly, I don't think Emory expects to be. He knows he needs time. Nothing about him says "entitled".
I like this idea… but if we going portal, he has to hit on someone with that “it” that is no brainer better than Emory.
This offseason is going to be drama on these boards, lol

Yeah, it could get a little strange around here from December through the start of spring ball. There won’t be a lack of things to discuss.

I've been impressed by him so far. I was also impressed by Jake Garcia back in 2021 before he got hurt. I believe in Emory but we still need to bring in some competition for him. Who knows, maybe Jacurri will learn how to throw.

Valuable minutes. Now get him a long white sleeved shirt. Lil Dorsey.

Emory looks very good so far, but his talent doesn’t jump out at me in a way that will make me go all in on him just yet. I am cautiously optimistic. Still not sure what we have when the real dogs are on his ***.

Jacurri is so talented that his fate is pretty much in his and the coaches hands. If he develops into even a serviceable passer (dont see him ever being as good as Emory passing), I would still go with him because that kind of talent can transcend your team. You cant teach that type of freak athleticism. It is why Richardson from UF is getting the kind of opportunity he is as a high draft pick that Emory may never get, just like Dorsey didnt (went round 7)
