Despite being here for spring in 2025, Nickel could not overtake Emily for the backup job throughout 2025, and now Emily is the backup at ECU. Nickel may just not be very good I'm afraid, and he's pretty small. Coleman has some upside but the dude is 5'11 160. If we don't hit the porthole once more in January for the top QB money can buy because of some stubborn approach to QB recruiting then we'll be doing ourselves a disservice imo.
He graduated in 3 years and also has his Masters

Kid isn’t good, always has been the case. Good luck to him in his future endeavors. Thinking we would have won more than 7 games with him and a “ball control offense” this year breaking in this new OL is just lying to yourself. He can barely complete a routine forward pass without everyone holding their breath.

The QB recruiting discussions on this board when we signed Emory and Judd in back-to-back classes were absolutely wild.

They "might" be ready. They're certainly better Plan Bs than the past many many years. But "will be" is a stretch. The only way we go with Nickel is if he proves himself in pressure situations where the game is still in doubt this season. Will coaches give him those snaps?

There is no way coaches are making Nickel the backup last year. It would have been a disservice to the kid and would have immediately triggered a transfer by Emory. You can't read anything into the QB depth chart. ... That said, I agree that expecting us to forgo a top QB in the portal for Nickel is crazy talk at this point. Let's see him prove something on the field first.

Glad we saved our money. Nearly all those five stars failed at their first schools, several at their second and now third. Rashada is a backup at Mississippi State. Cam Ward was only slightly more expensive than Florida promised to pay him.

I don’t think it’s obvious. Or at least not nearly as obvious as the past three years.
Personally I don’t think Luke Nickel is ever more than a backup quarterback here but Darreon Coleman has high level starter qualities. Also, you don’t recruit an Isreal Abrams if you’re not expecting him to push for playing time early.

Homeboy gave his best effort but his exploits from that game were exaggerated by CIS something hilarious.
He was 8/23 for 175 yards. 85 of those yards were on one play where the ball went through two FSU defenders’ hands and miraculously landed in Jacoby George’s.

No, he got hurt on our own 21 yard line. Could he have driven us the other 79 yards if he didn’t get hurt? Maybe but besides the one fluke George touchdown Miami had a total of 38 second half yards when he got hurt. Our second half possessions looked like this: 14 yards, 5 yards, 12 yards, 6 yards, 1 yard, 0 yards, 80 yards (Mauigoa had a false start before the 85 yard pass). We didn’t have a single drive with more than 5 offensive plays.

Emory just didn't lose the Clemson game. He was straight garbage in the 2nd half vs FSU in '23, so he was the main reason we lost that game. I think his only completion in the 2nd half was that great catch by Jalcoby George for a TD where the two FSU defenders both missed an easy INT.

I said it till I was blue in the face when this kid was on our team and even had to call out idiots like Donno on his stupid show when he kept claiming that Emery was going to be our next starting quarterback, and he was actually really good. Lmao I said back then kid is a group of five level quarterback at Best and that was being kind. Emery’s strongest attribute is getting the ball batted down by the defensive line every other pass. End of story.

You should apply this evaluation to your arch posts. Only difference between arch and this guy is arch is athletic but when it comes to being a passer, arch is almost just as bad.
