I never really had a clue what went into it but as far as I can tell it’s basically the equivalent of a pro day where quarterbacks throw against air. I’m really amazed that recruiting analysts put so much stock in this. It’s made me question their whole evaluation process. I listened to a couple of podcasts with people attending and they seem to actually believe these drills are showing them something. This is really mind boggling. The trait that distinguishes the great quarterbacks is vision and processing. The elite 11 does zero to show that.

Elite 11 is where the quarterback's that Mario doesn't recruit go. It's like a support group. Those QBs don't have the talent to succeed in a power spread offense

Recruited Rashada, Moore, and Emory who all made the finals last year. Landed one (Rashada) early, lost him, and Emory places higher than Rashada at the camp. Moore was my top choice all along. Really wish we could've gotten him.

This year we're now onto one that's there just this last day or two. Besides that, I think last year did us in on most top tier talent. ****, until we show something I wouldn't have even picked up the phone if I was a QB recruit. Just keeping it real.

Very diverse list as far as what they did in college and the pros here. Take Matt Stafford for example who ended up being a stud. Then see a name like Kyle Wright & Ben Olson who ended up busting. Wright had a rifle arm but was the prime example of looks like Tarzan plays like Jane. 5 different OCs sure didn’t help him either. IIRC we were heavily involved in Olson’s recruitment but he ended up going to UCLA and then transferred to BYU due to his mormon religion. Olson was a lefty.

Brock Berlin broke national passing records at his school in Shreveport. Evangel was known as a QB factory. He was #2 overall recruit behind DJ Williams coming out.

Also surprised to see Justin Fields won it over Trevor Lawrence. Did Lawrence compete in the camp that year?

I wouldn't say it's an arm talent competition bc if so, Sean White wouldn't be on the list. Same with Jake Heaps.

But the Elite 11 is no different than the NFL draft. Look at all 1st round QBs who failed miserably after taking that significant leap from college talent to pro talent. It's just another data point to add to your evaluation.

Yes Lawrence was there and so was my nephew.

So, from my reading, there's a 50/50 chance that the "winner" of the competition is a complete bust.

Yeah, sounds like a stellar track record to me.

A who's who of mediocrity.

If Miami builds elite OL and DLs...

The need for elite QB play goes away, just need serviceable at that point.

Looks like they have gotten better at evaluating in recent years..

The opposite opinion of CMR interestingly enough. Or already that's what he's said on The Huddle.

But we've been chronically pushed around since 04 so I'm with you here.

That depends what the goal is. 10 wins sure, but NC's you need more. In particular a potent offense as that's what's ruling college football these days.

While I don't disagree, I do believe natty's can be had using only an average QB behind a monster OL and DL.

Stetson Bennet por examplo meng.

Having Mario as our HC and Mirabal as OL coach essentially fixes the #1 issue in S FL recruiting and the main issue all of our QB's have had dating back to Ken Dorsey with perhaps the top O-Line we ever had. This may be an unpopular opinion, but perhaps the very smart weak-armed Dorsey gets more credit than he should for the success of the Hurricanes teams in the early 2000's due to playing behind our best OL and all of the skill talent one could care to have. Essentially, that team carried him. Dorsey was underscored when he was recuited as well, but had the luxury of playing with the best talent in college football. The same luxury the QB's on this roster will have because of Mario and Mirabal fixing the OL, not to mention the other positions on the roster. Emory's Elite 11 performances were indeed very impressive, yet this guy above disagrees about him being a talented QB.

Perhaps, but Stetson is far better than what most give him credit for. He improved each year as he got more comfortable with things. NFL wise there's some doubt, but ****, he went higher than Dorsey did with much better stats.
