He has been solid. I thought this year would be elite. All the stars seemed to align production, QB, just need some draft picks to sell I suppose.

Elite.... I don't think we're ever landing more than like 1 top 50 overall player at WR a year. I think best we will probably aim for is like 1 top 50 overall (top 5 WR), 1 top 150-200 (top 25ish WR), and ideally another top 300 (top 50 WR) WR. That's probably what the target should be at WR yearly.

26: Wingo was 56-64 overall / 7-10 WR. Parris was 67-111 overall / 11-17 WR. Spafford was 349 overall / 53-54 WR. Evans was 963 overall / 126-127 WR. ... So that's a top 10 WR, top 20 WR, top 50ish WR, and top 125ish WR.... So that's basically achieving the target.

25: Josh Moore was 125-193 overall / 17-22 WR. Toney was 359 overall / 49-55 WR. Upshaw was 474 overall / 65-67 WR.... So that's a top 20 WR, top 50 WR, and a top 75 WR.... This is not achieving the target. But then who cares given Toney was such a major hit....

27: Nick Lennear is 12-16 overall / #3 WR in country.... If we land Woodard who is 178-191 overall / 23-27 WR... That'd be a top 5 WR, top 25 WR, and then maybe as 3rd guy we get a late senior year riser who is a top 50 WR... So this would fall in line with that target I laid out...
 
Need to somehow not let that Cal visit go down…Lupoi can recruit & I know that bag gone be crazy nice.

Every goofy fan that loses a recruit it’s because of money. It’s never ever because of a relationship. Because the fans think of Mario as a God and there is no way a recruit likes another person more than Mario.

Sometimes a recruit will vibe better with other staffs it’s that simple. Just take the L and move along. But I did notice every fan base even ours blames bags if we lose someone. Sounds like cope to me

and honestly. play for Mario is not for everyone.every coach is different.

It is elite. They have a 5 star wr who is ranked top 5 at his position. They are only taking 2 guys. And this takes money and it’s clear they aren’t looking to spend big on 2. And they brought in wingo last year who was an elite recruit top 50-60 overall. Paris was a top 100 guy too. And 28 is looking like it will be strong. Then Toney and Moore are only soph. The wr room is set

Lets see where the chips fall. Only one team (I am using On3 rankings) has 2 WR in the top 100 committed and it is Texas Tech.

Texas, OSU, Miami, Tenn, A&M, USC, Michigan and UF have the rest of the top 100 committed guys.

The leading RPM or crystal balls or whatever they call them now for the uncommitted top 100 are Nebraska, ND, Penn State, Stanford, Oregon, A&M, Rutgers and Indiana so lots of different teams in the mix with a long way to go.
 
Woodard has grown on me to the point that it would really hurt to lose him.

He was always a good productive WR on film, but the testing stuff (6’1, 180, 38 inch vert) and track numbers (10.9) suggest even more upside. He’s also a serious, football-focused kid based on internal feedback.

Lsu,osu,texas,usc,texam have all managed to do it. Idc about current rankings it's possible and I thought we had realistic shot with all the momentum.

It’s facts. As much as I like tre Moore he is the 21st ranked wr (168th overall) and Woodard is 23rd (178th overall). They aren’t looking to sign another 5 star. This stuff cost money. Just like at DE they took dawson and are only looking to get 1 elite guy. That wr room is in great position

I'm not saying it's impossible to make an eval mistake, but it's very evident to me that the staff is incredibly high on him. I'm not sure I've seen us make a run at a kid from California like this in a really long time. Multiple visits to see him, obviously a massive NIL deal....****, they got Ol' Shannon out to see him TWICE, I believe.

In reality, we don't need a bunch of 5 star WRs. Look at the Cam Ward team. None of those guys were elite but all solid. We need QB, OL, DL, DBs. The rest is just filler with quality athletes IMO.
I'd be just fine with one 5 star each cycle and then fill in the rest but even if we don't get a 5 star that's ok, I believe.
We actually might already have multiple 5 stars on the roster with Wingo, Moore and Toney, they just weren't ranked that way.

Those are two 5-star kids. Every big school in America was all over both of them. Woodard is the type of kid who traditionally gets recruited nationally, but the California schools put in the most work, and he stays out west. For whatever reason, the staff has zeroed in on this kid out of basically all the other WRs in the country to go absolutely all out for.
