Tosh is Cal version of Mario(not saying he’ll be as successful), went to De La Salle, played there, and was crazy recruiter for Tedford until the school messed it up. He wasn’t leaving Oregon unless he had the resources to recruit how he wants to recruit.

Lupoi bolted for Washington 15 days before signing day for a lateral move.. Talked a bunch of **** on his way out and took 2 of Cal’s top recruits with him. He tried taking a third (Arik Armstead) but he ended up at Oregon instead.

Tedford who recruited him to Cal and gave him his first coaching job didnt talk with him for almost 15 years.

It may come down to him comparing Cal’s WR room to our WR room, and making a business decision based on where he thinks he’s going to have more early playing time. I have no idea, just one other possibility to consider.

Zero what their WR room looks like rn, but this kid was in the under armour all American game and looked pretty good. #2 player in Hawaii. Projected to choose Cal over UNC & Washington atm.

Tosh trying to get him and his teammate (#1 player in the state; a linebacker) partially because Berkley is the only school of mutual interest to the two of them. Lupoi recruiting both of them since Oregon.

If they get White and Woodard; then theoretically, it wouldn’t be an easy path to starting for Eli day 1 considering JKS will/already has attract(ed) transfer WRs too.

Thought this would be Beard's year.
Lennear is 12th ranked player in country.

Seems we may really only be after 2 WRs and maybe just go for a Senior Yr performer as a 3rd Wr. ideally we probably want McFarland, but I don’t see that happening. Gayles or Julius Jones is probably best case scenario but also u likely. Woodard or Hale are probably the most realistic WR2 additions which would be really nice either way. After them I’d say top outcome would be flipping Upshaw from A&M.

He then spent his time at Washington outdrinking Sark (and running up NCAA violations).

But as mentioned already, he didnt go to Cal without assurances of a competitive budget.

I keep seeing folks saying the nerds at Cal and Stanford dont spend on ahtletics. Which is true. But thats only bc they've never been asked to.

They will happily cut that check if requested. They really have FU money over there.

Toney was a top 3 WR in college. I expected more so far. Luckily their is still time and nothing you wrote reasonated with my point.

You expect 2 top 15 players in country at WR. 2 top 50? 2 top 100?..? We already have 1. We are after multiple guys in that range to be WR2 currently. Seems fine

Hard to compete with immediate playing time
Play immediately and then cash in further with a contender the next yr through the portal. All these kids should be looking at their monetary offers, then depth charts and film. Pick the best place to start and play in an offense that highlights wide outs and develops them while also getting a nice check.

Props if you want to compete, got nothing but respect for kids who want to go through a more traditional matriculation through college. fact is 2% make the nfl so they should all be maximizing their earnings unless they are day 1 starter caliber on a contender. These guys get a chance to stack up with a lot of kids that are already playing in college so they know where they stand usually.
