I love Cam but it’s OK to point out the flaws he had in ever taking the check down. Is Cam, a better quarterback than Beck, absolutely he is. But Cam not taking the check down cost us the game against Georgia Tech and the game against Syracuse. It’s OK to point that out because it’s true. Yeah, our defense was garbage but if Cam would’ve taken the check down, we would’ve definitely won atleast one of those games. It’s not putting Cam down., It’s just saying the truth.
This is true. But at the same time, we would have lost a few others where he had to be a hero for us to pull out the win (because our defense was so bad).

Anyone who believes Cam Ward cost us the Syracuse game in 2024 is so brain dead that they deserve to be institutionalized.

As for the Georgia Tech game where he completed 64% of his passes for 348 yards, 3 TD’s, and 0 INT’s, the fact that he’s widely blamed for that loss by our own fan base shows how he had ZERO margin for error on a team that clearly would’ve gone under .500 if it weren’t for what he did for Miami that season.

Never mind that our putrid defense in 2024 couldn’t get Georgia Tech’s offense off the field despite their 3:1 run-pass ratio and their alternating of QB’s, which telegraphed their intentions on a down-by-down basis to anyone who understood what they were watching.

The contrast between the defense Ward had to overcome in 2024 compared to the defense Beck had the luxury of playing with in 2025 couldn’t be clearer (Hetherman instead of Guidry as DC, a healthy Bain & Mesidor plus contributions from Lightfoot at DE, a much improved Moten & Scott at DT, veteran LB play that improved as the season progressed, and the additions of Lucas/Scott/Poyser/Thomas/O’Connor out of the portal in the secondary).

None of what we saw last year or what we’re seeing with this recruiting class happens without what Cam Ward did to revive this program. Yet a vocally ignorant portion of this fan base continues to have selective amnesia when it comes to realizing how dead this program would’ve been if it weren’t for Ward’s 2024 heroics, which set the table for both Beck and Mensah wanting to come here in the first place.

Let's not forget that Miami's offense in 2024 was the best this program has seen in quite some time maybe even forever. What's Miami's record without Ward? I guarantee it would have been under .500 and Mario's seat is on fire for 2025 and who the **** knows what would have happened.

Ward set the table and unfortunately got ****ed over by a Dorito like defense.

Can’t believe this is even a discussion.

Saying Cam cost us games is pure insanity. There is a strong argument that Cam saved the program as we know it. His Heisman level of play allowed a bridge to the next year. We have anyone else at QB in 24 with that defense and we are a 7-5 or 6-6 team again. Momentum dies and we just arent in the position we are in today as a premier program.

Exactly. That’s why I completely agreed at the time with Cristobal for waiting on Ward instead of settling for a lesser option at QB. You can’t trot out a game manager with a roster that deficient and a defensive coordinator who was as much of a liability as Guidry proved to be that year.

The second half of the Pop Tarts Bowl should’ve cemented a collective sense of unwavering gratitude and appreciation for Ward preventing us from being subjected to an offense led by any other QB on that roster.

Only in this fanbase.

Heisman finalist, 1.1 in the NFL draft, best offense in the country and school history by a wide margin. LOL.
The people that are/were arguing Cam lost us games and the people arguing that our '25 offense was going to be more efficient than our '24 offense is a circle.

A circle of ******* morons.

A lot of fans simply don't understand what they're watching, or only think the last 2 minutes of the game matters.

Last time I checked, Cam did cost us games for not taking the check down and last time I checked, Beck took us to the national championship game. Again, all facts, but by all means say whatever you will. Lol
I want what you're smoking. This QB stat line wins us every game in 2025 by double digits. Every single one.

11 incompletions?! Might as well run Kirby Freeman out there
Cam Ward on last year’s team has the talking heads doing post-season debates like “was the 2025 Miami team as good as the 2001 one?” Of course the answer is no, but you know that’s the kind of sht they do. We would’ve definitely been 16-0 though.

Man.... if only Cam Ward wasnt playing in that NC game and chucked the ball downfield with 50 seconds left, if we had Beck he would have checked down and we are looking at number six....

Oh wait.

Man you cannot operate in a vacuum like this. You say Cam lost us GT and Syracuse because he would not check down but Beck won Ole Miss "by himself"

What about the Cal game? Down 35-10, Did Cam not win that game "by himself" or at least to equal standards of your by himself comment on what Beck did to Ole Miss, or how about against VT down 10 in the 4th? Cam did that.

But then to champion this entire argument based on check downs when if Beck did that in the NC game we likely win lol
Was Cam perfect? Nope. He was dam close though. Anyone who sat through that Cal game (and many others) saw with their own two eyes magic at work.
