Ed Reed COS?

This reeks of a move to appease the fan base. But having Ed actually involved with evals seems like a good idea.

I agree. It does seem like a move to appease us, and also seems like a good idea. I think it is his first step towards becoming a real on the field coordinator. It cant hurt having someone around the program thats earned that much respect also. I can see it causing a problem when kids start going around banda and asking reed questions about the position though.

Total waste of time w Reed. Love him as a player but outside of some brief stint with the Bills what experience does he bring? I’d rather him be a analyst/ga type cause he was undoubtedly one of the smartest to ever play the game

For those that know, Is there a limit to how many staff members can give on-field instructions during practice?

I know it’s 10 for off campus recruiting but if no limits I can’t see how Ed wouldn’t be involved with practice and film study. Even if it’s initially “auditing” the different groups and then bringing his ideas for improvement to the staff meetings before progressing to a more active role.

Man are some of you dense. Ed Reed being here in any capacity is a great thing. First off he’s not coming to sit behind a desk. Idc what they say. Second off its an alpha presence to make these dorks like Banada & Patke watch over their shoulders. Get Ed Reed here in any way possible.

I'd rather we just fire Patke & hire Ed Reed as ST's coach.

But whatever it takes to make him apart of this program I'll take it.

And bring him on the road with you when you recruit, idgaf if it's against the rules or not.

Ed Reed should be on the phone & in communication with every DB & defensive player we recruit.
Yes!

If Ed is aloud in the defensive meeting rooms while they break down film then this a huge win. I don't think people realize Ed was the best of the best at breaking down film of opposing teams. He was literally a coach while he was playing here.

Ed Reed is an all-time great both in college and the NFL and one of my favorite players of all time, but to say he'd make a great Chief of Staff is ignorant.

The responsibilities of the Chief of Staff have never been publicly outlined, if the primary responsibilities are logistics, information gathering, and being the point man for communication among the administrative staff, I'd say it would a be a waste of his football knowledge and frankly I don't think the position would fit his personality.

If he's not on the sidelines I'd like to see him serving in some type of recruiting capacity ideally cultivating and re-establishing relationships with HS Coaches in Florida.

He's gonna be in there yelling????

Stop assuming you know what his COS duties will be - should he hold that title. All positions aren’t made the same even if the Titles are the same or interchangeable. If I were hiring Reed as a COS, his duties would be more specialized - specific to his expertise, and far less administrative.

Good idea, but after all the rumors and articles that came with Highsmith, as well as the rumors about Dorsey and Walsh, I'll withhold my excitement until a deal is officially made. FOOLED ME ONCE!

Some posters really need to chill. There is legit nothing bad about having Ed Reed in the building on a daily basis. Nothing...

For everyone that wanted Zo as a GM, sorry this is not how college football works. Hire Zo, fire Manny and see what kinda coach you get, when you tell him he will have Zo tell him who to hire, who to recruit. This is not the NFL and all college HC make all these calls themselves. That's just how it is.

So as much as I would've likes Zo in some capacity... get Ed Reed in this building please
