No one loves Ed Reed more than me. He’s probably my all time favorite Cane.

Would love to have him here in some capacity but imo he’s not qualified or the right guy to have this kind of administrative job.

Unless you've been employed by the University of Miami, like I have, I'd prefer to go with you're wrong.

Can you explain how Title IX would impact an external donation as specific to employment for a role dedicated to one team?
Of course there is a matter of how it has to be finessed in order to appear legitimate. That's a given, the same way that recruits are not receiving actual "bags" of cash. Again, agree to disagree. It's not that serious.

So they hire a guy who isn’t qualified for the position when they had a guy who wanted the job who has worked in a front office with talent evaluation? God this program is pathetic.

Nobody even know what the job is lmao! Just a lot of assumptions of the roles responsibilities..I’ll be first too say I was wrong about what the position actually was when first announced if the go with Ed

Yeah this just seems like a move so Blake and Manny won't have to look over there shoulder. With Alonzo there would have been real consequences when things didn't go right. I don't believe Ed will have any real power in the program.

Then why would he take the position you think he needs the money?

Agreed. He is qualified to take any defensive back coach’s job currently on staff. But as a sounding board for college coaching and recruiting hires? Or potentially for logistics and admin junk? I don’t see it.

Ed Reed and Alonzo Highsmith are very very different prospects for the chief of staff. Highsmith would have came to be basically the General Manager of football. Ed Reed if he comes is very likely coming to pad his resume for his next job/role. Manny won’t tell Reed what to do and Reed won’t have any authority. It’s a hype hire.

I have heard multiple times on this board he wants to coach. He needs to pad his (light) coaching resume. Being an all time great player only gets you so far as far as coaching jobs. His biggest coaching job so far was 1 year as an assistant coach for Rex Ryan.

I'll clarify it to say he's not qualified compared to the guys other schools are hiring for similar positions around the country.

Here is the resume of the guy FSU just hired:
