Ed Reed COS?

Yo can someone explain to me wtf this role Chief of Staff actually is?

As best I can tell, it's kind of like an internal consultant role. Acts as a second set of eyes and right-hand man for the head coach from an operations standpoint.

Would be a great move if true. Remember what Reed said about being in the locker room and everyone just throwing their stuff on the floor?

He's a respectable dude who has done it all as a player and then some. Kids will listen to him.

I don't get what the **** a chief of staff is supposed to do
In this case, stir up the fan base & buy some good will for 2020 without the threat of answering to anyone. I love 20EReed but he’s an optimist homer. Win-win for Diaz.

Ed Reed coming back is cool.

Him coming back as chief of staff is borderline nonsensical. Stroud was supposedly going into this role before Simpson left and he became the defensive line coach. Highsmith was the obvious last guy rumored for this position.

Ed Reed has few college coaching connections. I’m not sure if he currently has high school coaching connections. He also doesn’t come off as an administrator or secretary for the coach. Ed Reed should be a DB coach, a chief of staff is a waste of his real talent and way outside his wheelhouse unless the job is literally just a title.

It would be, but it would also be the right move as opposed to Highsmith.

Y'all are sitting here thinking we have the money to pay an NFL Exec for the same job we were paying Stroud for a minute as just a title.

Reed is a better fit for the ACTUAL JOB from an experience standpoint and adds tons of clout.
It would not have cost the university or specifically the athletic department a dime. There were a couple/few major boosters that were offering to pay Alonzo's salary.

If Ed takes it, I'm sure they'll morph into something more substantive and at minimum take advantage of his celebrity with young football players.
Van Ed sell Water Deluded with R kelly **** to recruits and parents tho..till we win idk how much sway he’ll have..we’d get a few more visitors tho...and last thing, I think Ed is a fan of manny, at least he seems that way on Twitter

no at every program a COS is just an assistant to the HC. he helps with travel, helps you run a team essentially. takes over the **** that lets the HC focus on actual coaching
Helps with travel? I think you’re talking about a different gig. You ain’t bringing Ed Fcking Reed in here to be a travel agent.

He’d be a general assistant to the whole staff. A sounding board. A shaman of sorts.

look at what COSs do at other schools. its what stroud was hired to do

Correct. I don't think you know what an Administrative Assistant is.

That title was created because "Secretary" was viewed as misogynist, but that's what it is. A secretary. The HC has always had an admin assistant.

This job is more like Operations Manager.

Why COS tho? Ed isnt a suit and tie type. What connections does Ed have to cfb?

He'll go down as the best Safety to ever do it and his skills are teachable! To waste him in an office doesnt make sense
