Rumor Each Day Past Today (Mon, 28 Nov)..It Gets Weirder and Weirder With Gattis

Let me ask you something: if you wanted to part with an employee, and you had two options:

1. Fire him immediately and owe him more money
2. Wait like 4 days to part with him and owe him less money

What would you do? Honest question.
I would give the money out of my salary because I made a terrible hire. I would gain back some public trust.

In this situation? Fire him immediately. Why? Because this is probably the most important move of my career. Other coaches are getting fired and hired. IMO, the longer you wait, the chance you take of guys you covet being snatched up. Also, i want to have a big time guy in place so that i may get the attention of recruits and portal guys. Thats my opinion.

Do we know what exact day Gattis officially joined staff?

Look I get the frustration - no one should be arguing the man should stay. In a perfect world, he’d be gone already.

But I can understand the slight delay if it comes to financial reasoning. I don’t know the exact figures, but if the buyout drops after Dec. 1, then I’ll wait and see what’s up. Any amount of money saved (no matter the amount or money we currently have) is smart financial thinking. That money can be used for the new OC, maybe bump a recruit or portal’s NIL…so many options.

TVD staying all but confirms Gattis is gone. It’s a when, not if.

He wouldn’t be staying to further ruin his draft stock if the same coach who f’d it up is coming back. Just using logic here.

I see the financial aspect of it. All i am saying is that Marios first hire took a long time. Was it because of getting turned down? Who knows. And i do agree, if we are only talking about a few days, it makes sense. But a few days is almost over

Why should we be surprised he’s still here. Per Mario “coaches didn’t forget how to coach”

The philosophy of the offense is based around our HC

Expect Gattis back next year

What exactly do you disagree with? I’m in agreement Gattis needs to be fired, just laughing at the folks who are counting the days on pins and needles.
You stated earlier that firing gattis after 1 year looks bad and will make Miami seem like a toxic job, scaring off potential high calibrr coordinators and i disagreed

His contract start date is important, but.....like with NFL contracts, my guess he has other escaltors (yes actually) based on key season dates...

Fired after season, he gets x $$. Fired after NSD, he gets x++ $$$. Fired after training camp he gets x+++ $$$$, and so on and so forth.

Does someone have an update on what was discussed in the Twitter spaces with DMoney? I just hoped on so i missed the first 30 minutes but I caught one sentence before they moved to recruiting talk.

Sounded like DMoney just dropped some unfortunate news along the lines of offensive staff remaining in tact? Or did I hear that wrong?

Update: Disregard, DMoney mentioned that Gattis’ name isn’t really being mentioned by recruits as far as who is recruiting them so his return still seems unlikely.

No you wouldn’t. Let’s be real here. No one would give more money out of their pocket.

If I'm making 8 mil a year, I'd pony up as much as 500k or maybe meet me halfway. My job depends on it, I need to get moving or 3, 4, or 5 years down the road I'm not going to be making that kind of money. Maybe the timing doesn't matter, we don't know the details, but it wouldn't be a holdup for me unless right around the corner it's vastly reduced.

Richt donated a million outright towards the indoor facility. He also paid some money out of his pocket to assist with salaries at UGA unknowingly commiting a violation.

I'm not saying any coach should be made to do this, but saying nobody would, that's wrong. ****, after this season if I was being real with myself, I'd feel like I stole the vast majority of my 8 million. So to me, it'd be giving it back or paying it forward with the primary focus of making us better.

That’s very admirable of you.

Here is the funny thing. If Gattis is retained and has a banner season next year, alot of the people calling for his head right now will be saying, See I told you so. It was just injuries and personnel!
A Banner season means something different in the 305. fire up the planes and Fly the Banners !!!!
