Couple of things in play. Mario can fire Gattis, not hired a new OC and tell recruits what his objective is in hiring a new one.

Mario could hire a new OC by then and due to the usual new employee orientation, he can tell recruits who’s on board. Would be difficult to get all the contractual stuff done in a week UNLESS he’s had a new OC in the pipeline for a minute.

Just a couple of possible scenarios.
 
Every sec goes by just further shows me how stubborn Mario is, and that he doesn’t believe Gattis is the real issue.

Went quail hunting with wife's Dad. Second time one of his dogs false alerted - I heard the shot and he was finished with that dog. "Got no time for fooling around."

I made up my mind right there to not fart around and hold him up - ever!

Probably the 10th time I've written this - Mario didn't pick his own OC at Oregon until his 3rd year there. When he did pick his OC, he picked Joe Moorehead. Gattis is a Moorehead disciple. Mario may not have landed his #1 or #2 OC target, but he didn't just grab some random OC after missing on his top choices. He likes what Gattis runs. I think he will bring him back and see what Gattis can do with a healthy roster.
 
Unfortunately, I believe that Mario thinks "well, they run what Gattis runs at Georgia!" I think Mario believes it's a personnel and discipline issue.

Mario gives Gattis another year. Book it. I don't think Gattis is out the door. Wish I was wrong, but I think Mario is the Second Coming of Woody Hayes.

For all you Mario guys he is not as smart as you guys think. By keeping Gattis he is alienating the fan base, his remaining players, and I ask you what offensive recruit wants to play for him after this year? Stop thinking that MARIO is the answer and I think his pride and ego is too much to bear here. Looks like he is keeping Gattis and it seems to be another buffoon move by MARIO.
