It appears Dugan enjoys job security as a member of Coach Richt’s coaching staff. Making a lateral move to a program with a new head coach and a football program that has been on the decline over the last several years might not be the brightest move. Of course, should FSU be offering a significant pay increase and a long term contract then the bread winner of any family (assuming that’s true in Dugan’s case) would be derelict not to seriously investigate that opportunity.
Should Dugan leave I suspect Coach Richt’s rising football program will have a long list of replacements to interview.
It is not unusual in business when convinced a personnel change or some other challenge is going to be detrimental to your operation, it turns out to be a net gain. I would not be surprised in the least should that be the final outcome concerning this issue.
Would hardly say FSU has been on a decline over the last several years, last season absolutely, prior 4 seasons they were 47-7.
As for job security, never in college football, and if he gets named assistant HC or OC it's a promotion and either way more money. He's coached with Taggert before and one another potential issue may not feel very comfortable on this staff in terms of upward mobility as long as there is another coach whose last name is Richt. Don't think replacing him at this point will be easy, it's late and if you're good you've got a job, which means to get an established guy you got to pay or you're looking at a younger guy from a lesser school who will take less money to be at Miami. Think back to when Coker fired Soldinger, Kehoe, and the rest.
2013; 14-0, ACC Champs and National Champs
2014; 13-1 first in the Atlantic,
didn’t win the ACC, and lost the Rose Bowl
2015; 10-3 finished
2nd in the Atlantic, and lost the Peach Bowl
2016; 10-3 finished
3rd in the Atlantic, won the Orange Bowl
2017 7-6,
6th in the Atlantic, forced to schedule game at end of season to qualify for Bowl game, won Independence Bowl against a vastly inferior opponent.
Now, tell me again that the FSU program has not been on a downward trajectory in recent years. Further, FSU fans despised Jimbo Fisher and were howling that he be fired.
Where in the **** are you getting that Dugan may be "tagged" as Assistant Head Coach or Offensive coordinator? You're just making things up as you go along.
There
IS job security in college football if you are with the right program(s) and are contractually protected.
So, your saying it won't be easy to replace Dugan, because it is late...yet, Dugan may be moving to FSU at this "late" date. The son issue, money and late date is you spewing gobbledygook...nothing more.
I have no idea what point you are making concerning the assistants Coker fired. Are you comparing this year's program to the failing state of Coker's program at the time?
