Duffy's sold...

If you own a sailboat that is kept IN the water you have a yearly chore of hauling the boat and sanding / repainting the bottom with anti fouling paint to keep barnacles from growing on the hull. Wonderful task involving toxic dust so most people wear respirators and full body suits for protection ... unlike some of the old salts that worked IN the yard ... they wore shorts, no tee shirts, and smoked Camel's while they sanded and breathed in that toxic ****. They would be sitting at Scotty's bar, covered in red or blue bottom paint, smoking and chugging beers. One guy in particular, Charlie Campbell I believe was his name, always had a parrot on his shoulder. The kind of scene that would make a good book cover for a Tim Dorsey novel.
I work in the marine industry, we've got some electricians who think they are tough lol. We've got some fiberglass guys that wear gear and are pretty tough but one fiberglass guy in particular is beyond anything I've ever seen. Exactly like the old guys in Scotty's bar you described,

He uses a massive hole saw every day, cutting holes in the Bow of boats for Thrusters. He wears shorts, short sleeve shirt, no body suit, no respirator not even a mask, just a hat that's 40 years old lol You could take a razor blade and slice his forearm with it and he wouldn't even feel it nor bleed out because of the layer of fiberglass built up on his skin from years and years. I can not imagine what his lungs look like.

Different breed of guys or maybe just plain old stupid

I miss Jimbo’s on Key Biscayne. That place had flavor, bocce ball, beer in the garbage can for $1.50 a can.

Semper Canes!!!
That's where I took my wedding pics!!

I went to Duffy's twice and boaf times they didn't sauce my wings. Gave me the sauce on the side.

Never went back after that and I lived right off 64th. 7 Seas though was a fun place along the lines of Headquarters and The Pilot House ❄️🎱

I saw that Shuckers in 79th street was also sold and will be reborn as an upscale on the water eatery for the ruling elite.
The prices of pretty much every restaurant south of PSL matches upscale eateries for the ruling elite.

Scotty's former location is now The Bayshore Club Bar & Grill with a dramatically more diverse menu and is apparently built on different levels so there are water views from all levels.

I think that’s the only Duffy’s sports bar still open. They opened two in Broward that nobody goes to.

Yeah, brother.

Feel this is the fate.

I can't even drive by (what used to be) Norman Brothers anymore after they took that establishment and just made it a ******* parking lot (that they'll turn into a senior living facility to something).

Duffy's is on borrowed time.

Glad my dude got a chance to cash out, I guess.

Wasn't one off Oakland Park near the intracoastal??? Used to be Shooters if I'm correct.... or not...LOL!!!..
The one by me still does solid business.... It still works for having a burger and sitting on the water.... The view is great...wish the food matched but again , for burgers I'm good... and the Cheesecake sundae is really good...

The former Shooter’s is now called Shooter’s again but it’s not a bar, it’s a nice restaurant now. Bokamper’s is on the north side of Oakland Park. The Duffy’s restaurants were off Cordova and 17 street in Fort Lauderdale and the Fountains plaza in Plantation. The food was decent but they’re both huge locations with a ton of overhead.

I think the one on 163 does so well because there’s almost nothing else in NMB/Aventura area. My buddy used to work at Tuna’s right by Greynolds Park and he killed it at the bar because there were so little competition. Everything around there is either fine dining or dive bars. Very few casual spots that weren’t dumps.
