DT Isaiah Broughton decommits from UNLV

Big kids can be difficult to properly evaluate because in high school, they are so much larger than everybody else. From what I see, he's not a real "twitchy" athletic DL, but he seems fairly strong. He needs a lot of work to be ready to take on P4 OG, and Cs. Gotta work on his feet. Moves more like an OG, IMO. Decent take in a year where you can have more kids. We can do better though.
Dtackles are like the easiest position to evaluate, is he big? Can he move? is he explosive and violent? that's literally all you are looking for.

he needs s&c but i go with that type of size all day (pause). Him and Kennedy are real behemoths with some movement skills both guys are over 320. If you can land two of those in one class you take that shot and bet on his pedigree (nfl brother) especially since locally you will never have those types once every 5 years or so.

Out of all the Vegas trips I have never visited campus. I should take a look one time.
the only reason I went is because my sister attended Nevada State which is also in Vegas (well right outside in a city called Henderson), but she had a friend who invited us to a party on campus at UNLV. This was like 7 years ago

Thank God for you Prop Joe. The constant voice of reason on Canesinsight that everyone listens to. We’re lucky to have you.🙏

Not exactly. That’s a good start. But there is more. Feet, is he explosive. How does he move laterally? Can he change directions? How quick is his first step?

I literally said explosiveness brother, and no disrespect, but first step covers explosiveness, I also said can he move which was referring to quickness (laterally is a part of that as well)

At DT we can do better? Idk bruh
I’m not saying that he’s not a take. What I’m saying is, usually we recruit more athletic DTs, stars be damned. So yes, at Miami, from an athletic perspective, we can do better. From the standpoint of “we really need depth there ASAP!!!”, sign his *** up. He definitely has the size coming out of high school to envision him being somewhere in the neighborhood of 330-340lbs by his Soph/Junior season, and that’s always good for defending the inside running game.

Throw in “motor” as well.. is this kid more like Bain or like Leonard Taylor. The little things matter in tape when it’s coming easy for ya being that big at that level

100%…. We need to continue to stack body types like this and to Mario’s credit I feel like we have started to take 1 or 2 of these body types a cycle and that is the formula.

The kid has size, strength and a good first step. He plays too high but most young linemen do. As others have said, he needs two years in a college S&C program. He needs technique work also but he has potential if he puts in the work. How well he develops depends on how serious he takes S&C. He could be a valuable rotational DL eating up 15-20 snaps a game. If you don't think that is valuable then go look at the snap counts of some of our DLinemen this season.

The big concern is that given his family's resources and access to technical coaching from his brother, this young man should be wayyyy more developed than he is.

You have to wonder if he has the dog /motivation in him to develop into a high floor P4 starting DT.

Dad was a 3rd round pick. Meets the size standards we’re looking for m and with the extra roster spots why wouldn’t we take him?

That's a bad comparison Bain was an underrated 4* and Leonard Taylor was a 5* that got by in High school on his size & athleticism.

Broughton is a 3* with size that is playing suspect competition, and will need 2 years in a S&C program along with coaching to produce at good rotational level for a P4 team. Bain & LT were contributing as freshmen.
