I don't think he's slow or lethargic at all. Shows good twitch, length, and hustle. What he needs to work on IMO is his hand placement/usage and pad level. He's a guy, similar to Simpson last year, where how well he takes coaching will determine how soon he plays.

For the record, I didn't say he was slow or lethargic overall. I'm saying the plays on the film looked lethargic. Has a decent first step and a basic swim move. Everything else is a projection. He played like 2 teams on that film with a decent sized iOL to engage him. And, some of those plays looked lethargic when he engaged. He did play tall on a bunch of them.

This kid and a few other recruits (Mueller for example) will have a major adjustment period once they get on Greentree.

Agreed, need to bring in some projects and guys to develop. You only get in trouble if that’s all you bring in.

You also get in trouble when the projects you bring in don't have special traits.
In the past, our projects have been small shoulder, skinny wrist 6'4 250lbs OL, or 5'9 DB running 4.9

Moten didn't walk during senior day. Justin Scott has been stepping up past few games. Simpson has been in the rotation as a true frosh. Next yr hopefully Jones and Russell can contribute. Still think we have to go for a portal DT, but it can just be a rotational guy at least and not a guy we are absolutely breaking the bank for. Jump on a good quality portal DT early and get them in ASAP (same with QB, WR, Nickel/S, and a LB). And I think Stancil could be a guy that gets PT as a frosh.

It appears they want Blount inside. And, that Blount wants to develop there. He played a bunch of 1T snaps last game, though he still *currently* seems too light to make the impact his feet/speed should produce.

That's really, really good. I'd still consider a rotational guy unless they see something in Artavius Jones or Russell that we haven't been able to in live games. But, maybe we have an EE guy who can serve in that role.
Then, I'd go out and get a starting level Edge player who can play opposite Lightfoot and the Wider 9 guys.
Oh, then I'd get a LB who can play 3 downs.
I'd also get a starting level Nickel and put Fitz back at Safety, but maybe there's a better value at Safety and they keep Fitz there (not sure).
So, 3 starter level players and maybe a rotational guy.
It could be a really great defense in Y2.

@LuCane hes a project obviously. Two years of high school ball...Im not expecting much for 2 years and expecting a shirt if we can. ...But i want my projects to look like him 6'4 280+ and not have bad habits.
On the other post i said I WOULD HOPE for his trajectory to be like big Will Joseph. He has a good get off and length , long arms...he plays somewhat high but that is definite in a kid that hasnt ever played the sport and is 6'4 and then going against not so good talent.
Kids like this usually take a year to 1.5 to adjust and i dont think it will be different but i expect him to flash in the mean time witht he get off and motor that i think he has.

Blount only plays inside because Bain/Mesidor never want to come out. He is sliding right out to Bains spot as soon as he leaves.
We need 1 portal dt to come in for spring...as well as one Edge guy if he is legit.
fitzgerald isnt a nickel im not even sure he played it much on saturday.
LB for sure will be needed in portal a veteran presence.

I'm not sold we portal Edge over DT, though imo that should probably just be based on who enters the portal. It's more likely Edge Is better in portal, so from that perspective it's probably better we target that. But with Lowe returning from injury, Scroggins likely ready to contribute much more meaningfully, Lightfoot and Pickett manning one Edge spot, and Blount seeing heavy early down snaps/starter at Edge.... I think we just have more depth at Edge than we do DT as of now. Hopefully McConathy can actually develop too.... This may honest depend if we flip a 5star Edge that we are after like Tank Jones tbh.
But I'd also expect Bryant to portal out....

I see a future NT. He fits what Heatherman wants at nose. Hes big, quick, and powerful but he clearly needs coaching. Hes going to need alot more to his swim at the next level.
I think we could see him follow the same development track as Moten. Moten took 2-3 years before we started seeing him have an impact on the field. Sainteus is going to need that same kinda time with D Lewis.
If he is around 6'5 290, which some are suggesting, its not far fetched that he could be hovering around 310 after a few years in our S&C program.

I would have thought so, too, but that's not what I've been told. He actively wants to develop in there, supposedly. I thought he'd slide right into Mesidor's role next year. Like I said, I still don't see the DT attributes (strength, weight) *in this moment.*
As for Fitz, he did get some Nickel snaps, but we did a lot of different things on Saturday. I want him to play Safety and let us play a bunch of Cover 1 and Cover 3 with next year's Corners coming back. I think we have a really nice group of attributes for a lot of different Cover 3 looks. I think @Calinative alluded to that (Fitz in single high) earlier, or perhaps someone else.
