you’re on a recruiting board asking why I commented that one of our commits went from basically unranked to top 250?

To be clear, my post was not a shot at your post.
I'm simply asking a rhetorical question as to why does it matter where a recruit/commit is ranked?
Why do so many folks lend credence to people who rank these kids when so much of what they do is driven by clicks and/or subscriber dollars?
Don't get wrong, everyone is entitled to their opinions and bless them for monetizing what they do.
I just don't see what value these folks, many of them obese living in Mom's basement, bring to the table.
I rather trust my own eyes regarding watching these prospects and, yes, my observation carries equal weight on a recruiting board, with zero intent on disrespecting your .02.

It verifies the staff is hitting on evals. This is a dude that literally just showed up from Haiti. While he might need some refinement on technique to play DT at a high level, the fact that the services see an NFL player is external validation that D-Lew and JT are locked in and killing evals.

Fair.
But the true validation is how they fare on the field of play and, yes, there can be many factors like injuries, personal stuff, coaching/scheme changes that can be mitigating factors.
