golden hasn't been same since PSU fiasco. in his defense, he was always outcoached but he was energetic and looked like he loved being here. PSU changed everything. i think he always wanted that job, his wife wanted to return home and he was devastated he didnt get it.

I don't even blame Al at this point. I wouldn't walk away from the money either. UM was dumb enough to give him the contract and they should have to pay the price to get out of it like any other school would. Al is what he is. He sucks and this is likely his last big pay day. I would be digging in as well and force this 2nd rate school to pay me every dime they owe me.

Me either, my anger is at bot and administration. He's just trying to get his paper

And I'm gonna hand it to Vern.

I didn't want to believe the Duke and Tracy rumors as bad as I wanted to. But Momma Dukes comments and the things I heard about Tracy make me think otherwise.

I saw Tracy yesterday at the bball game. He was talking to someone that works at school. I told him they all deserved better and that he should be in a much better draft position but his coaches let him down. He smiled and said thanks.

That's the **** truth and IMO at a stage as high as a D1 major football program head coach, once you try to fire him, you almost have to. If Al's mind is off at all knowing he is going to get fired the team is only going to suffer. Yes, you try to agree on money to best suit both sides, but you have to bend until you satisfy Al to get him out now, it's too late. He's ****ed and our team is ****ed

So true and yea he doesn't wanna be here anymore and is just gunna kill any coaching career he MIGHT STILL have of he comes back...

lol. Lots of ***** being thrown at the wall here and at CIS. Let me try and separate the wheat from the chaff.

As I mentioned earlier this week, some BoT member and a couple of UM lawyers were going over with a fine tooth comb the language of Al's contract in regards to keeping or firing assistant coaches.

Al's agent came back into town for 2 days. He was also in town after the Pitt game when I thought we really had the best chance to part ways.

BOTH sides have tried to get out of the contract but BOTH sides want the better end of the deal. Al is digging in and won't go without the full dollar amount. UM up til now does not want to pay the full amount and believing that they are keeping him are trying to at least force some changes in his staff as they realize the status quo simply cannot be allowed to remain as is.

Al, while not off the grid, did fade into the background for a day or two. This is where I think the CIS rumor started to grow. Al gone quiet, his agent in town, the Mexican standoff being played out like a 3rd grade slumber party pillow fight.

Since my guy has yet to be wrong, I will keep riding with him. There is activity. There are contingency plans being made. There are statements being prepared. The one good thing about the PSU incident is that the UM folks now have a plan in place to be active instead of reactive, but with this group who knows that may be worse.

All the major players are due to be back tomorrow. Another push will be made for termination. Once again we will have to wait and see if the bean counters will give in.

if this sounds like rinse-wash-repeat it is because it is. The absurdity of it all is breathtaking. Like someone else said, I can't recall any sports team, Pro or college, that has ever been held hostage like this. But I don't blame Al here. The ones holding us hostage are the UM lawyers IMO.

All of this actually makes sense. It's really the first week back to work for many of these folks. This week will be the week when a lot of BOT members are in town to discuss this. Someone mentioned this earlier but do you think these people spent their vacation time focused on this? NO! Lets see what happens in the next couple of days. I don't think a decision has been made either way. These net couple of days is when things might get going. Honestly, I think people are saying he is gone Monday because that is the first day that the BOT will be back to work. I highly doubt that something this big happens in one day. Negotiations take longer than that.

If they really spent no time with this on their vacation this administration is a ******* joke. A huge ******* joke. I hope this new admiral president or whatever he is comes in and cleans house BIG TIME. Its so frustrating how these people could be so incompetent... imagine this happening to any major national football brand in the college game. It makes no sense that our administration would allow arguably the best program of all time at the time to just completely fall on its face, and even worse, its like they are just keeping their foot on the programs face and not allowing it to get back up. **** them.

one positive is butch dont care how bad it gets, he will fix it. he has no fear of the situation he would inherit

To me the most telling thing is no end of year presser, no recent statement to calm down all the madness....just nothing....

Every problem in the contract - was the fault of the UM Admin, BOT, and UM lawyers.

If they knew what the **** they were doing - to supposedly be such smart people - we wouldn't have this problem.

This problem is a problem they created with their incompetence.

If I step in siht and track it in - it's up to me to clean up my own mess.

Don't continue to make recruits and fans pay year after year because of their dumb asses.

FIX IT and let's move on. Just learn from your dumbass mistakes.

I don't blame golden for wanting his money. The school didn't want to pay Shannon his money either. The school doesn't want to honor its obligations to save a few bucks. Pay the man (Golden) and move the **** on.

What a ******* joke if this really is coming down to a few million bucks. Even if it's 5 million the money that will be coming in from the new apparel deal and the probably increase in donations and ticket revenue will more than cover it. This admin is a joke. You could get butch in here tomorrow for the same money we pay Al.

If what Vinn says is true then Folden is gone. It is just a matter of time. You don't negotiate the terms of a termination and then decide not to terminate. I don't think we would know anything tomorrow. As someone else said, this stuff takes time.

They're gonna be busy sorting through the endless emails sent from the time they were gone until now.
