Exactly. We need an adult.I'm not going to keep responding to all these dummies that say Brown isn't a good hire because of how Michigan lost to Ohio State. In 3 of his 5 seasons, Brown had top 3 defense nationally. Top 3. If you want the program to get back to where it was, it starts with crushing the ACC coastal. Brown isn't going to give up 42 points to NC St and UVA. Get the defense settled with good recruiters and staff, then in 2 years when Brown retires Diaz can go out and get the Lashlee equivalent from a G5. Right now Diaz needs someone who doesn't need adult supervision on defense.
excellent (top 10) defenses 4 years in a row. this year the wheels came off the wagon. it can happen.
he's an excellent DC by any measure. I'd take him in a heartbeat
Also hood LBGlad McBurrow wanted to play for Don Brown
So you are basing your hire based on how his defense fared against one of the best teams in CFB with something like 18 5 star players on the roster. Great way to evaluate. Baker gets torched by UVA and NC St. Brown gets torched by Ohio State. Obviously the same thing. Someone needs to fire that overrated Bama DB coach whoever he is because he stinks and got torched by the Gators and Lane Kiffin earlier in the season.
Let me guess, you think the right guy for the job is an inexperienced G5 DC whose team didn't play a single P5 program, as you think that's the guy who can help an inexperienced HC.
U know Don was our 1st choice before Manny. We’ve been craving Don; again I like to look at trends; so I would love to know where his defense started and finished at BC prior to taking the UM job.

Don Brown has the stature to hire the position coaches these guys are crying for and to keep LB’s home - you know, the ones that spurned us for ———— Michigan. Some of the posters must be 12 years old to not remember the exact same things being said about Venables at Oklahoma. He feasts on bad teams, gets torched by good teams. The thing that matters is attention to detail. I want to see that DC can reliably shut down bad teams. If he can do that, it's pretty much an automatic 10 wins in the ACC. Then you add a dynamic offense, and when that defense plays a high powered offense, maybe it gives up 42 points (instead of 62 like with Baker) and the offense puts up 50. You can't reliably shut down high powered offenses in modern CFB, only slow them down. Ask that Bama DB coach (I can't quite remember his name) or Venables about the NC game last year. Brown can do that for Miami.
Before his arrival, BC was 71st (5.6) and 63rd (5.58) on D in yards per play in 2011-2012
In 2013, BC was 92nd in ypp (5.92) in Don's first year.
In 2014 and 2015 they jumped up to 30th (5.13) and then 1st (4.07).
Since he left, BC was 25th (5.09), 48th (5.37), 35th (5.17), 110th (6.33) in 2016-2019
I remember CMR was waiting on Aranda. Literally the day after lsu got Aranda he hired manny
I think Aranda was choice 1 but LSU
We need our usual guys to chime in lol@Coach Macho this thread calls out for you like Lemon Pepper Wings.
I think Aranda was the first choice and was on his way before LSU swiped him if I’m not mistaken.
No, get rid of everyone. We're not keeping Baker and Patke to suck in another role.Yep we'll take him. DC/LB coach and clearly has developed his LBs at Michigan and at BC. We need an experienced veteran like him. I would even say bring him on as a Co-DC/LB coach and keep Banda as a Co-DC. Still need a CBs coach unless we're going to assign Banda as DC/Secondary coach. Then we just move Patke as full time ST coach and allow him to train under Brown's LB coaching tutelage.
