Don Brown fired

So Brown comes in as DC and Coaches LB’s and brings Bob Shoop, the Michigan Safeties coach with him. That leaves the CB and DL spots and I’m imagining that he'll full those with capable people.

Thanks my bro; so it appears the chit show in Ann Arbor is more of anomaly. Talked to my frat who’s by far thee most annoying Michigan grad & fan I’ve ever known. Lol. He said Don was solid, but what irked him & their fans was his inability to adjust to talent level. He said Michigan was very young on the backend, and despite the pups struggling with the speed of the game, Don refused to come off his press man defense & give them help.

He’s indifferent to the firing b/c when Michigan’s Def was on, they were on, but when the talent was out matched or exploited, he was stubborn to it. That was his viewpoint. He said a lot of fans felt that way.

I'm never of fan of coaches who are stubborn to adjust. We've been saying that about Manny and Crew with this defense since he arrived.

You have to adjust the plan to the skills of the guys you have. If you can't do that i doubt you'll be able to adjust in-game on the fly to what modern offenses can throw at you these days.

Brown would have to hire someone who can recruit and coach CB’s. As I understand it, he relies on that more than what we have.

That was downside of his defense at Michigan. He ran press man with no help...ALOT. Didnt have enough talent in the back end when he ran into Ohio State. They would spread them out and pick them a part. But it was legit only happen when they played Ohio State and maybe Penn State one year. Don Brown coming to miami would be like Brent Venables going to clemson.

And maybe he brings Shoop to coach Safeties plus he has the stature to hire qualified assistants and stabilize that side of the ball. It’s a no brainer.

Except Don Brown is 65 & Venables was 42 when he was let go.

What impresses most from Brent Venables is he's altered his scheme (as needed) despite massive success. I'm up for anyone who proactively solves problems.

It has to do with Don Brown being cooked & Venables still being young & hungry when he was let go.

I agree with the younger part but Brown being cooked after 1 bad year? I dont know about that. As bad as the defense was at Michigan, the offense was worse.

He'd be an upgrade over Baker. I'll give you that. Maybe if he & Manny mix together a scheme of both things they do well it'll be great. Who knows?
