North Carolina's run defense is ranked 112th. They gave up 288, 235, and 287 on the ground to App State, Georgia State, and Notre Dame. Those teams aren't particularly dominant at running the ball either. It may be the case that people think the strategy on our end will be to pound the ball and control the TOP, which is what our strategy should be.

I'd rather be looked at in my field as someone who can adjust and find success with different pieces versus being an outright failure. Would be nice to see the staff feel the same.
 
They're looking at all of our games and see MTSU as an anomaly where the team showed up so unmotivated and unprepared that they couldn't correct it during the game. UNC is probably back to a more typical effort, which means we can actually win it. I'd caution people from taking too much from a UNC win though just like too much has been assumed from the MTSU loss. Our offensive system is still wrong for our future no matter how much more effort the team gives. Defensively we should eventually be OK given the right buy-in by the players. It'll be interesting to see what they've been able to correct or instill in 2 weeks after a shock/embarrassment.

Do you think even if we go back to some of the things that made Tyler successful last year it will be enough to overcome how poor/injured we are at the skill positions?

Agreed. You're very rarely as good or as bad as you think you are. If you listen to our fans, we're literally the worst P5 team in the country. I don't buy it. What happened 10 days ago will probably take a year off my life, but I don't think we're that bad. Just "one of those days". I think the kids have some pride and come out with a lot more fire this weekend.

I'd feel a **** of a lot better if you told me Parrish and Tyrique were practicing this week, though.

As of today it sounds like TS is going and no decision yet on Parrish.

Everyone we've played so far sucks. It would be nice to start beating the sucky teams with regularity. This weekend is another opportunity to start that trend.

I can almost understand half assing our way into the game against MTSU

UNC has been a thorn in our sides for years. Guys on this roster have routinely been beaten by them

If they (and the coaches of course) don’t get up for this game there’s no ******* hope for the season

Thanks for the reply. That’s good to hear. I was under the impression he’d be out for a long time. He’s been phenomenal this year, hope he comes back strong.
