Does Ed O have an official role?

I'd put him in the booth with DBJ and Zagacki for a year. A) It would be a phenomenal upgrade to our broadcast and B) it would allow him to spend as much time as he wants around Hecht and probably would be enough distance to avoid any jimmy rustling of the oldheads that wouldn't want him hired back in an "official" capacity with the program
It seems like the old heads got stuffed in a locker by the new heads when they got manny run off and hired Mario. It would be an interesting battle if Mario decided to bring coach O back into the fold. The old heads might not be the road block they think they are. just speculation by me of course.

I’ve mentioned a few times already that Mario’s transformation of the progrum in just a few months is astounding so at this point, nothing would surprise me - including adding Coach O in some capacity.

Yeah, but this one isn't "old heads vs. new heads", it's "Ed O vs. HR". And HR nearly always wins.

It's like, you can vote in a new Congress, but the people in the IRS have been working there for decades. A new Congress doesn't change anything.

The HR at UM now....isn't the HR from 92 though....If Mario wants Ed O back in some capacity, then I think it could happen. Just the fact he was allowed at the Coaches Clinic, is very telling.

Ferrall after Neil and before Mandich was peak QAM days.
Sooooo true! I had a daily commute back then often involved both the Palmetto and the Dolphin and Ferrall was pretty much the only thing that kept me from killing myself and/or others on the road. He was in peak form so it was inevitable that they were going to eventually "have" to fire him but it was often glorious radio.

Just made me realize I can’t even remember the last time I listened to local radio, or even watched ”local TV or news” for that matter. Probably at least a decade, probably much more.

I'm definitely that way with the news. I think I really only watch the local news when there's something like a newsworthy event near my house and I want to see live coverage of it. Other than that it's almost never aside from maybe watching Will Manso's Sunday night 30 min sports recap show but that doesn't really count.

It's not necessarily a good thing either. We'd probably be in a better place as a country if people watched like at least 30 mins less daily of Fox or MSNBC or whatever national cable broadcasts or websites they consume and just added as generic as possible a local news source to their media consumption.

I don’t watch cable news either. Probably in the minority, though.

Smart man.

I pretty much just watch old VHS tapes of Deco Drive. Keep that fantasy alive of being the ham in a Belkys Nerey/Lynn Martinez Cuban sandwich as Louie Aguirre films.

I noticed them a while back, all that plastic surgery, they look like different people.

10000%. Especially Martinez. Turning yourself almost into a freak via incessant plastic surgery is an epidemic among middle aged women but it's almost even more egregious when young girls do it now. I know more than few women in their 20's and early 30's that were naturally hot and maybe only had implants that start down the path of the lip fillers and eye work and end up looking like a duck with Asian eyes. It's insane.

Even people that don’t carry it too far, sometimes end up looking weird. Take for example, Nicole Kidman, looked like a real peach when she was young, and was aging nicely.

My wife and I watched that HBO murder mystery about a year ago I guess, and the way she looked was distracting. It took away from the willing suspension of disbelief that you need to have when watching fiction. We just kept saying to each other she looks weird. The thing is she didn’t have that much done. I don’t think.

I don’t have anything against plastic surgery per se, I think it works really well depending on what it is you’re doing. But I just think it just goes overboard sometimes. Like teeth whitening. Some people get their teeth so white it’s distracting it just doesn’t even look natural.

Women tend to want to inject collagen and end up with a duck bill for an upper lip.

I hear ya, and it's always good to leave the door open a crack. But unless the HR files were water-damaged during Hurricane Andrew (a distinct possibility in 1992), I don't see much hope here.

I think the Coaches Clinic is a different thing. And as far as I recall, Coach O was never barred from any team reunions/anniversaries or anything like that. I always liked the dude, he is an intense, well-meaning, hard-nosed guy who just has some impulse issues with ladies and/or liquor.

I wouldn't mind him being the first student in the Saban-Cristobal Coaching Rehab Clinic (East Campus), but it seems very unlikely.

The exuberance Mario has unleashed is astounding, add in the fact that Ed's Son will be coming as a future GA might do the trick...For Orgeron, to even BE at Greentree, the 1st time in 30yrs...is mind-boggling to me. And hopefully a sign that old wounds are closing....God only knows MANY more UM coaches and players have had issues in the last 30yrs....but for it to be a Lifetime ban is kind of crazy....
