Does Carrol leaving hurt recruiting?

Come on with this. You know recruiting isn't that simple.

Of course it hurts recruiting. Guy was just labelled the #1 recruiter for 2016 and he is no longer on our staff.

By the same outlet that said Al golden was going to be an NFL candidate after the 2013 season. Also, they labeled carroll as Shaq quarterman's primary recruiter. IIRC Shaq's dad has said Hurlie is the primary recruiter

The staff got better today. Beard will be great & Shaq's dad agreed with pete.

How about he just locks up Sam Bruce first before we start throwing the word "great" around. While I think he has the potential to be a really good addition to the staff, I will reserve judgment. There are about 10-11 blue chip WRs in this upcoming class in SoFla alone..He needs to lockdown at least 5 of them. Maybe 6 depending on who comes in as an Athlete. And it really doesn't matter which 5-6 either. Just needs to get his fair share. Then we can revisit this.

Sure he could be great. He could also be bad. We don't know.

Nitpick about the ESPN article all you want, but all we know now is that we lost a coach who was known to be a good recruiter. The default position is to see that as a bad thing. It doesn't mean it can't be a good thing, but I can't predict the future and I'm not going to try to.

I understand your point. I definitely got ahead of myself in reference to beard but I believe it's a good pickup. I'm just trying to give my .02 that what he was known for might've not been a reality. Sandland, Berrios, Cager and Milo were all huge pick ups. He was also the secondary recruiter with Kaaya. But in south Florida (our territory) he missed on Lane, rudolph, dixon, ridley, and Calloway. No one bats 100 but those were all big losses. Stacy coley was a big pick up too, but he got the WR job a month before signing day when richardson & mcdonald were Coleys two main recruiters. You could even say Donnell bennett was one of his main recruiters too lol.

Carroll also brought some energy to the practices

I like Carroll. Think he will be missed. That said, it's not like he is irreplaceable.

Rashaan Gaulden, Tylin Oden, Dylan Phillips... A few others who Brennan was sent several emails about. Not a single reply. Rashaan (4 star DB)is originally from Miami and wanted an offer badly. He point blank told me he would've committed to UM during his recruiting process if they had offered. Went on to commit to UT and is now a Vol.

Addition by Subtraction, he was a horrible WR coach, watch how much better Stacey Coley will be next year.

I never heard one recruit say he was coming to the U to play for Carroll

who is going to send out the bat signal now!?!?
#gettingoutofdodge

I was wondering the same thing! Hopefully KB can work an iphone.

As an aside, we're at a very low hit rate on the signees / bat signals ratio. We're definitely below the mendoza line. They might need a new strategy.
