Does Carrol leaving hurt recruiting?

The question you guys need to ask isn't if this is a smart move right now. Any move made under Folden will yield bad results while he is still here. The question is how does this effect the next staff? Would the next staff be better off with Beard or Carroll? If you surrounded both of those guys with a competent staff who would be more successful? This is a great move as far as that goes which is all that really matters at this point.

My gut feeling is that Brennan Carrol has actually been axed by Golden
They let his father announce that he was brought in Seattle for PR purposes only
He's joining his father staff to do what exactly ???
This is more a dismissal than any kind of promotion and I don't know what we are supposed to miss about him

I don't believe this is true. Sounds like Carroll wanted out, and this was the surest way.

Occam's razor applies here. Carroll probably had a standing invite from his dad whenever he was ready. Right time to leave considering this is a lame duck year for golden and Carroll has coordinated a nice 2016 haul so far

well, at least your not speculating.

I am absolutely speculating, you are right to point this out.
Just a gut feeling as I said.
Probably overreacting to reading comments saying "another one leaving UM for a better opportunity, shows how much we suck".
I wish Caroll Junior all the best in Seattle

The fact that he got our WRs to block as good as TEs, while even better blockers further downfield.

A lot of speculations on both fronts about carroll, what we do know is that he is in a better job right and is a upgrade from coaching here

hopefully this means the end to us stop trying to reach for California kids that we have no hope in getting...

Golden is adjusting the staff but I am not sure if it is too little too late...we will see

Carroll was overhyped as a recruiter here from mostly all of the coaches that I've talked to down here. Kids thought he was "cool", but when it came down to it, he was not a great closer here. A good chunk of people thought he came off as fake.

I've been saying this from the time he was hired.

The guy wasn't even coaching when Golden hired him. If he was such a great recruiter, he would have been on someone's staff.

And I still don't know what player he is responsible for finding and/or closing???

But good luck to him in the NFL. Coaching on his dad's staff should be an ideal situation.

And if he decides to come back to college ... He can hang his hat on the 2016 class being #1 while he was still on staff ...

No wonder Golden liked him

If go as far as saying he was a lazy recruiter

I met both Carroll and Coley in a social setting before the season started (they were together).

I attempted to shoot the sh*t with them.

Coley was more than cordial and actually spoke with me for a bit.

Carroll came off as kind of an assh*le, and spent the whole time on his phone texting.

So yeah, that's the impression he left with me.

Assign a guy with lousy people skills as your recruiting coordinator for how many years? Sounds like Al at work again.

Carroll Jr. wore out his welcome at USC as well with the same "I'm better than you" attitude as well. Without daddy he would be lucky to get a job as a HS coach.

Usually loss of an assistant is not something from which we could not recover. Only exception was CurtJohnson. Big setback in Louisiana.
