in the last 4 years what major recruit have we lost due to our admissions standards?
Do not reduce the academic standards overall for the University. With that said, several programs have different standards for athletes and the student body as a whole within a +/- that is "agreable". No issue with that.
Are there specific instances where we lost a kid over academics that ended up anywhere aside from one of the West Virginia schools catering to the illiterate?
Why do people say this and act like it makes sense. Do coaches offer kids they cant get? Do they waste time on kids they know they cant get? Come on that's utter nonsense. FN Harvard can say the same shiat.

Not sure exactly what you're attempting to say here. You do realize that we start recruiting kids prior to the fall of their senior year, right? It'd be kinda obvious (especially if it was a local kid and in the era of social media) if we wanted someone and he couldn't get in and he ended up anywhere aside from WVU, Marshall or FIU.
derrick griffin? do you even know what you are talking about? what 4 year school did he end up at?

We dont know and we dont recruit kids that obviously cant make it.
Miami also does not take LDs. So if you use that logic and compare it to FSU who has as many as 30% LDs then you can say we lose a lot of recruits because of it. FSU kids can recruit kids that dont even pass high school standards test. Non LDs fail those tests and they cant even get passed the 11th grade much less graduate but FSU can get field 1/3 rd of their football team with them?
Besides LDs FSU has had as many as 80% of their team on academic exceptions and their standards are lower than Miami.
One thing we do know is Miami's athletic academic standards are much higher than the NCAA (per recruits) and they did heavily scrutinized exceptions under Shalala. Which makes perfect sense because she was **** bent on improving Miami's academic status and could care less about football. Exceptions hurt smaller schools more than they do large schools. Also if you compare Miami high schools scores to other areas of the country they are very low. So this area is impacted by kids that dont qualify more than most areas in the country. You may not realize this but coaches fight about this stuff all the time. When Georgia Tech's coach was hired he got his immediately moved to 20% and that still caused him issues and then he continued to fight and finally got his removed completely in 2014.
I would bet that Richt did fight for this because it can be a big deal. He would have definitely asked what the policy was. Every coach wants to know what limits he has on him before he takes the job. If it wasn't in line with Georgia's he would have asked to have it removed completely. It may be why you see a lot of new kids from the area getting offers that we are just scratching our heads at how they were not offered before.

not true... they were casualties of academic standards in general. They couldn't have gotten into UF, FSU, LSU or any other major program either
