Does anyone think admission standards might loosen up?

I wonder if Richt had that discussion before agreeing to take the job. I'd like to see UM using NCAA standards.

Admission standards have increased for everyone else due to an NCAA mandate the last few years so i doubt it since the gap isn't as large anymore.

in the last 4 years what major recruit have we lost due to our admissions standards?

We don't know. Neither the school or the kid are going to tell you. But, if we just used NCAA standards it would never be an issue.

Are there specific instances where we lost a kid over academics that ended up anywhere aside from one of the West Virginia schools catering to the illiterate?

I don't see any reason they would change them if they haven't in the past.
New president, maybe different priorities. And I thought a high profile coach like Richt might have some leverage before signing a contract.

Possible, but I doubt the new prez would want to downgrade our academic image. I maintain that standards haven't done us any harm, but poor recruiting has.

Do not reduce the academic standards overall for the University. With that said, several programs have different standards for athletes and the student body as a whole within a +/- that is "agreable". No issue with that.

We dont know and we dont recruit kids that obviously cant make it.

Miami also does not take LDs. So if you use that logic and compare it to FSU who has as many as 30% LDs then you can say we lose a lot of recruits because of it. FSU kids can recruit kids that dont even pass high school standards test. Non LDs fail those tests and they cant even get passed the 11th grade much less graduate but FSU can get field 1/3 rd of their football team with them?

Besides LDs FSU has had as many as 80% of their team on academic exceptions and their standards are lower than Miami.

One thing we do know is Miami's athletic academic standards are much higher than the NCAA (per recruits) and they did heavily scrutinized exceptions under Shalala. Which makes perfect sense because she was **** bent on improving Miami's academic status and could care less about football. Exceptions hurt smaller schools more than they do large schools. Also if you compare Miami high schools scores to other areas of the country they are very low. So this area is impacted by kids that dont qualify more than most areas in the country. You may not realize this but coaches fight about this stuff all the time. When Georgia Tech's coach was hired he got his immediately moved to 20% and that still caused him issues and then he continued to fight and finally got his removed completely in 2014.

I would bet that Richt did fight for this because it can be a big deal. He would have definitely asked what the policy was. Every coach wants to know what limits he has on him before he takes the job. If it wasn't in line with Georgia's he would have asked to have it removed completely. It may be why you see a lot of new kids from the area getting offers that we are just scratching our heads at how they were not offered before.

Dionte is getting in and Choc got in.. I think our admissions are just fine.. Michigan pretty sure has tough admissions and lower stipend and they will get consistenly top 5-10 classes

admission standards have not affected our football. stop it.

Thats insanity... How can it affect other schools in the ACC and not us. Duke and GT coaches all fight to have them reduced but magically we are not impacted? Pipe dream buddy.. with Shalala that's a serious FN pipe dream.

Its the percentage that matters. One or two kids can get in. Show me where 80% of our class has academic issues like FSU had during the Bowden era.

Why do people say this and act like it makes sense. Do coaches offer kids they cant get? Do they waste time on kids they know they cant get? Come on that's utter nonsense. FN Harvard can say the same shiat.

Go do your homework guys FSU has had illiterate kids on their football teams for years. FN 3rd grade reading level kids. They are called LDs and they are not subject to high school standards much less NCAA standards. If your flagged as a LD then you can get into college without meeting the basic NCAA requirements.
