Do you realize how one non-call finally went our way...

I agree. There are two different scenarios:

1) The receiver is slowing down as he gets out of bounds, and the play is over without a tackle is being made. The defender then tackles the receiver and draws the penalty.

2) The receiver did NOT slow down as he got out of bounds, and therefore, in the minds of the players, the play was not over without a tackle being made as they did not know if they were out of bounds. Although the defender tackled the receiver out of bounds, a penalty is not drawn.

Explanation: Both the defender AND the receiver were battling the whole game, giving it their all, and neither were letting up. Neither was looking at the ground, although they obviously could see they were at the sideline, they probably did not know where the exact line was. Neither was slowing down, and the defender then tackled him as hard as he could. This context is important because it signals the defender's vision and intent to do / not do harm to the receiver, which is the whole point of the rule. The rule was created to prevent a defenseless receiver from getting hurt. But if they were battling the entire time, and it was part of the play, then he was not defenseless.
I just appreciate consistency as well

Whether it’s football refs or baseball umpires there should be conversations before and during the games and the refs should stick to the same set of rules for both teams

As long as they do that I can handle it

Hasn’t felt that way this year at times

The Toure play was one of those bang bang, incidental helmet to helmet joints. U just hope both players were/are OK, but 100% wasn’t targeting.

OJF 100% got away w a PF, & that was the non call of the game. Refs almost screwed us on a LeFlop PF call on Blount. Either way, I thought the game was well officiated, objectively. One missed call went our way & one bad call went their way.
Nothing ****es me off more than a “make up” call

Baseball umps do it all the time too drives me nuts

The Blount call felt like a makeup and thought for sure it was gonna haunt us

Absolutely.

Which is when everyone was saying in the beginning of the thread that they want these refs for all of our games moving forward, I said that I want whomever trained these refs to train all the refs nationwide. That's the real problem. And I'm sick of all these debates and arguments among all the fans over social media after games.

Just play the **** games.

IMO it's borderline, how is a defender supposed to really know whether the guy is out of bounds or not? Defense is just trying to make a play, I hate those flags unless it's really egregious and obvious the guy's out of bounds.

I’d have to see it again. I kinda missed it in real time and heard it mentioned on TV. Must have been in kitche
Therefore replay needs to examine every targeting and roughing the passer call made to determine that. We have the technology and the sophistication, use it.

That’s true but still seems somewhat subjective in interpretation.

A few plays before they got away with the most blatant hold. It was on the pass play that got them down to the 10. Their right tackle was beat so he tackled our de and then belly flopped on top of him. So bad.

Completely agree that they need to remove the nuance, but they never will until they are forced to. It's just not how they operate because they are spineless and weak.

Wait, why is this growth for me? I cuss all the time! It's actually my one and only vice.* In order to get me to cut down on it, my kid made a rule in my house that I'm only allowed to cuss during football games. 🤣

*That's a lie. I do drink alcohol, preferably bourbon, but I have complications from a stroke and am on a number of meds so I drink very infrequently.
During football games doesn't count.

I'm a former litigator, have an MBA, and was in-house legal for a Fortune 50 company.

I certainly know how to work a child. But I'm also teaching him that cussing has its time and place. ;)
I thought you may have had a legal background when you sort of honed in on "legislate." One thing I've learned through the years is that those who don't have a law degree should not practice law. I think I've demonstrated enough that I do not have a law degree. :)

I reserve most of my cussing for Notre Dame, FSU, UiF and the Suckeyes.

The only time the refs should intervene in a game is when the play is getting too chippy. Let the players know the extracurricular nonsense will not be allowed to degenerate the game.

Well, I actually wasn't criticizing your use of the word, so please do not take offense at all. Your statement was fine. My criticism was strictly limited to the NCAA and their BULL****.

Head and Shoulders above and extremely competent compared to ACC refs. Unbelievable the difference in officiating.
ACC does have the guy with the annoying voice during video review convincing everyone he is right all the time...what a pud....they got that going for them. :)
