Do We Really Need Another Portal QB in ’26?

Yeah, definitely need portal QB.

Interesting question is how much NIL money is on the bench & never touches the field? Seems like we’re reluctant to spread around snaps.

Yes.. We aren’t at the point where the cream of the crop high school QBs are signing up to play here.. I don’t know if that will ever happen.. Need to use the portal to get someone proven..

After reflecting on Beck! At some point, Miami’s gotta decide who we are as a program. Are we gonna keep chasing another “name” QB every year, or finally trust the recruits we’ve recruited and developed?

We’ve got some talented young guys already in the room — kids who’ve been learning the system and waiting for their shot. If we keep bringing in portal QBs, how are we ever gonna build continuity or develop the next leader from within?

And let’s be honest — a big-time QB from the portal isn’t coming cheap. The NIL price tag for one of those guys could easily go toward stacking up WRs who can separate or adding more depth on the defensive line, where we need consistent pressure and playmakers.

You can have a Heisman-level QB ( Not Beck) but if he’s throwing to 1 excellent WR and average receivers or getting hit every other play, it doesn’t matter. Build the trenches, get some dogs at receiver, and let one of our own QBs lead.

At some point, you’ve gotta trust your own talent instead of always looking for a quick fix.
"a big-time QB from the portal isn’t coming cheap"

Neither is a big-time QB from High School

Am I the only one that knows next to nothing about Nickel? It has been oddly silent coming out of the Hecht. Worryingly so.

At the very least, it begs the question about claims like the OP is making.

At the very worst, it means another mistaken evaluation.

YES.

Contrary to some CIS experts C.J. Bailey in this offense next season would be an upgrade over Carson Beck.

He would add an athletic element that would help the run game, and put defenses in more conflict defending Miami's offense. Also another year, and you could see an uptick in his play even from this year similar to what you are seeing from Mendoza.

Nickel is a true freshman. He needs time to develop. Almost all QBs (and all players for the most part) do.

We just need to bring in qbs who can move and have some athleticism. Watching college football all the time shows a glaring weakness with Beck. He is mechanical and stiff and not a fluid athlete at all. Every time he runs bad things happen.

Absolutely not....atleast if we can't get the best available sure fire bonifide baller who can also run.

Real question here, have you seen our backup quarterbacks? You really want one of them to start for us? Get real man!
Have you seen Luke play? If we aren’t going to ever let the QBs we recruit play then don’t take any and use the money for the portal and the spots for other areas of need.
I got a feeling that if Luke doesn’t at least get a shot this spring he’s gone.Emory? He sucks so he can do whatever he wants.
