Do we have a shot against FSU?

Canes will win. I have enough belief for us all. Life is about balance considering we lost to Midd Tenn we have to win a game that doesn't quite make sense. I doubt it's Clemson so I'm taking this one 🤷‍♂️
I hope so I'm around to many FSU fans. IDC if we win because of a blocked extra point that we return.

Assume TVD is out. How do we do it? Give me some hope, folks!
About the same chance of winning the World Series of Poker if you are down to a “chip and a chair”. On guy years ago in Vegas won a tournament when he came back from literally having only a “chip and a chair”, but the odds were overwhelming against him to do that.

We almost meat them in 2014 when they went unbeaten until the Rose Bowl and we were 6-7. We can win and will win.
Should've won that game. We were up 26-3 at the half, and their go-ahead touchdown came off of a ball our defense batted in the air, but then Dalvin Cook somehow caught and walked into the endzone.

Appreciate the numbers and, yes, I've watched him this year.

Nonetheless, this past Saturday, I believe I counted three 3rd downs of 12+ yards where either the scramble or the threat of scramble turned our back 7 into chaos.

I'd expect the same against FSU - unless there is a brand new wrinkle added, which I hope.
What is with our 3rd and long d for the past 15 years. Either got a dc that sends delayed blitzes from 30 yards back or a guy that puts flagg into coverage and brings no heat ever.

This is really poor analysis, my man.

FSU is 11th in the country in YPP (6.79), we are 88th (5.21)

FSU is 48th in the country in Scoring Offense (30.0), we are 101st (21.3)

FSU is 25th in the country in passer rating (150.12), we are 85th (125.29)

FSU is 16th in the country in rushing yards per attempt (5.23), we are 114th (3.12)

FSU is 4th in the country in 20+ yard scrimmage plays (55), we are 105th (25)

Shall I continue? I'm not sure if you were looking at stats from another year, or on another planet, or what...but in no world are we anywhere close to as effective on offense as they have been this year. Our offense has literally been one of the very worst in the entire country in essentially every and any metric, and that's simply not the case for FSU.
Stats don't mean a dam thing in a rivalry game. They're an average team with a QB who is either hot or not.

Their midget RB is strong so we need to tackle and not bounce off him.

Their D gives up a ton and can be run on with ease.

We can win if we protect the ball and keep their offense off the field.

I actually think Travis gets knocked out of this game.

Put somebody to spy on travis, don't let them beat us deep, got a chance. Need dl to dominate their run game.
I feel for our DL , we are very physical up front and will play gallantly to exhaustion.
Platooning is critical for survival , they won’t worry about our running game there speed will cancel that out totally , passing situations will be so obvious.
Being forced to be vanilla all year will cost us dearly , we can’t throw our playbook at holes because we don’t know it with any confidence at all.

I believe Travis has been HEAVILY coached to scramble to throw this year versus his last 2 years. Now, all of what you said is 1000% true, and I'm sure he'll scramble against us with how much we've struggled with it, but it's been very odd to me watching them all year as far as how little he's been running. They run very few designed runs for him, and he really doesn't run much when he scrambles anymore.

For example, he had 1 "carry" for -7 yards last week. Clearly a sack. So he had 0 designed rushing attempts, and 0 scrambles where he ran. In 2021, of the games where he played the majority of the snaps, the FEWEST rush attempts he had was 9, and that was in a blowout against UMass. Every other game, he was getting heavy double-digit rushing attempts. Against us, he had 22 (!!) rushes. This year, the most he's had in any game is 14 vs Clemson, but that's the only game he's had more than 8. He's being deployed much, much differently this year.

If we have fans out there who will watch FSU for the first time this week, they're going to wonder who the **** #13 is. He's not amazing, I'm not saying that. But the way he's being used and the way the offense looks is 180 degrees different than how it's been. He's much improved as a passer and it's clear that's been a point of emphasis from the staff. He scrambles to throw now, where the last 2 years, if the first read wasn't there, he was out the gate. Not the case anymore.
Agreed. Personally, I believe they want to keep him healthy. But I have definitely noticed that he is hanging a lot more in the pocket even when there's green and easy yards in front of him. I'm hoping that trend continues. I'd rather take a chance with his arm than his legs.

Here is how we do it.
1. Parish or combo of backs run for at least 150 yards and a TD or two.
2. We have a receiver (X or Colbie) go for 100 yards.
3. Garcia or TVD goes 15 of 25 for 250 yards and 2 TD's no INT's.
4. D plays lights out.
5. Penalty yards under 30 and TO's 1 or 0. We need a take away or 2 also.

Miami 28 ****heads 24.
So all the things we haven't done all year except #2 just to beat an average FSU team? I agree with others, if we can limit Travis running, don't commit TOs, and the crowd is into and it feels like a crazy night game, think we have a decent shot and hopefully it makes the rest of the season feel good as we'd need one more game for a bowl.

I hate to say this but the are taylor made to beat us. Travis will run for 150 yards against us. He’ll throw some deep balls that will work against us. It will be a long night.

Of course we have a shot.

I haven’t been reading through this abomination of a thread, but we’re not playing Georgia or Alabama, in their house, although from reading a couple of porsts on the first page, some of you apparently seem to think that.

It’s a rivalry game at home, against a mediocre team, so there is an uncertainty factor that you can’t figure out just by looking at rosters and this year‘s performance.

FSU is favored to win, and based on performance this year, should be favored to win, but to act like we have no chance, that’s just some ***** *** shlt right there.

Anything could happen, and of course Miami has a chance, and much more than just a puncher’s chance.

Save the defeatist attitude for when we are playing the top one or two teams in the country, not a limited semenhole team. Now you scared little girls can go back and hide under the covers. I’ve said my piece.

Go canes!

Don't forget their 6'7" WR, Wilson. If #8 has him in man coverage .... look out.

On top of them going up to to Wilson early I just have this feeling Pittman is begging Mike all week to get him the ball to try and prove a point to his old coach.

He’s susceptible to picks to I like our match ups in the back 7 vs there receivers the smart thing to do this week is deploy James and Wesley In the box with Johnson and flag on early downs vs run and switch them on third to our better athletes on Third for spying and coverage abilities

Well he ran for 62 yards last year for a whopping 2.8 average and that was at Doak. We have a better DL this year but we seem to give up a ton to mobile QB's. This is a hard game to figure out.
