The worst thing ever to happen to the ACC is that Clemson & FSU became dog**** when Miami started to become good. Same with VT/UNC, as much as everyone loves seeing the ACC teams lose I personally would’ve preferred some higher ended conference matchup
- UNC is a train wreck and failed with the BB hire
- VT is on the up and come up NOW but that started this year and they’ve been dead since the 2020s
- GT LOOKED like they were trending up and now they’ve flopped miserably.
- SMU has been solid but they aren’t really bringing in elite talent to get over the edge.
- Syracuse/BC/Cal/Stanford/Nc State are all teams that are all dog**** and are basically the equivalent of playing against an AAC opponent rather than an ACC one, and every time they upset someone (Cal over over VT, Syracuse over UNC, BC over Pitt, and Nc state over UL, GT over Duke) they just reinforce the idea that the ACC SUCKS BECAUSE THOSE TEAMS ARE HORRIBLE (VT losing to Pitt while Pitt lost their starting QB and also became dog**** was one of the worst things to happen to the conference)
- Wake Forest is a pleasant surprise but knowing the ACC, UVA is about to win this week
- Louisville is literally 9 total points away from being 7-0 and a playoff contender, still a good chance they finish 9-3 too.
- Duke isn’t anything special, they’re maybe finishing 7-5 this year.
I’d easily put the ACC as the bottom P4 conference right now, academics are obsolete in today’s landscape and a bunch of these institutions don’t care to put in enough money to compete with the big boys.
The top 5 in the ACC will probably end up being:
- Miami (most likely finishes 12-0, maybe 11-1)
- SMU (most likely finishes 10-2, maybe 9-3)
- Wake (most likely finishes 10-2, MAYBE 11-1)
- VT (most likely finishes 9-3/8-4)
- Louisville (most likely finishes 8-4/9-3)
- Clemson probably takes the 6th spot (probably finishes 7-5 but maybe 8-4, doubt they run the table though)
After that it’s just a bunch of BAD teams, all whom would be middle of the pack even in the American conference.
I hate the SEC & Big10 but they’ll probably get 7-8 teams combined and I won’t even blame the committee for it either, even the Big12 is doing really really good this year. This conference just flat out sucks top to bottom (basketball is a different story though)
