Dmoney observation of the year

I think the answer was "pay more for coaches" and "pay the players without fear of a CNN investigation."
One more thing I would add to that...have conference financial backing and support. We got part of the way there with the money we earned last year.

The prior coaches were a little different because we had no ability to recruit nationally. They lacked the recruiting chops, the bag money, or both. So the national guys we got were mostly leftovers who played even worse than the local guys.

The reason the local misses hurt so much back then is that they were low-hanging fruit. Now, we can get anybody. And when we're choosing from a position of strength, there's still a ton of value in local three stars like Malachi Toney, Ahmad Moten and OJ Frederique.
Mike a bit off topic but how the hel does the 2024 Florida high school player of the year (MT) only get 3 stars?

To me, locking down South Florida doesn’t mean ignoring national elites. It just means that kids like Toney, Fletcher and Bain stay home.

And if we’re really locking down South Florida, Jeremiah Smith and Fernando Mendoza are holding up number six in orange and green.
Yup. It’s not an either or thing. You can do both. Our best teams have had lots of national guys but also a decent share of South Florida guys.

And you’re always going to lose out on some top local prospects. Even during Butch’s and Jimmy’s runs we lost highly regarded South Florida guys.

Might have been #7 cause talking about mights and maybe’s if we might have or maybe have had close to the D in ‘24 when Cam was here there’s a great chance#6 would have come that year..

On today’s show, DMoney was talking about yesterday’s 2 commits and how they’re two highly rated players from Alabama and North Carolina and how these are two players who would’ve lined up for Alabama and Clemson a few years ago when they were playing for National Championships.

It kind of put it in perspective how much we’ve upgraded the talent.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, look who was the OL coach and Recruiting coordinator in the beginning of the Alabama dynasty with Nick Saban.

Totally agree the good balance that you need. Though I would also say you still wanna keep your local feeder schools happy and it seems like we may have an issue with one or two still at times

Yes, the one of the things we got we won’t be able to get again since the way the playoff revenue is handled changes going forward. And that’s not about the ACC. It’s that the Big Ten and SEC get way bigger share per team regardless of participation.

Right, and that's why we all know we need to move.

Reclassified and measurables i guess. Usually if a player has the freshman season he had in sfla they would automatically be a 5star early then maybe drop off late

I think the answer was always an administration that actually cared about and put priority on the football program . Those things you mentioned are the byproduct of that shift .

It’s all some of us were yelling about on these boards for years , finally manifested .
Those Mother****ing Mopes

I think you always have to recruit the elite local talent, but the great thing about being a national brand is if the local guys don't want any part of being Canes, then Mario & Company will go across the country and find guys that do.
